An amazing experience at Taylor’s Shellfish Oyster Bar. It’s truly a must-visit if you’re in Seattle. It’s conveniently located within walking distance of the Seattle Convention Center and right next to great shopping spots like Glasswing and Melrose Market, making it an easy stop during a day out in the city.

We stopped in late Friday afternoon and were seated immediately. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing the history of Taylor’s (which has been around for over a century), explaining the nuances of local oysters, and walking us through the regional geography and the wine and drink menu. Being able to learn about what we were eating while enjoying it made the experience feel much more personal and memorable.

Even though we came in casually for drinks and oysters, the attention to detail and genuine hospitality made the visit feel special. One highlight was learning about the marine biologist who personally harvests the sea urchins, which had been fished less than 24 hours before arriving at the restaurant. The freshness was unbelievable, and the uni was honestly one of the best things I’ve ever eaten.

I had such a great experience here! Their geoduck sashimi is something you don’t often see in restaurants, and it was incredibly fresh and delicious. The oysters were amazing as well — they offer different varieties from different bays, all without any fishy smell. The smallest ones were noticeably sweet, while others had a crisp, refreshing texture.

We came around 7 PM and didn’t have to wait at all. The service was friendly and efficient. Highly recommend this place for anyone who loves fresh seafood!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting what I can confidently call the best shellfish and oyster bar I’ve ever experienced. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere struck the perfect balance between casual and upscale, with soft lighting, coastal-themed décor, and the inviting scent of the sea. The staff was welcoming and knowledgeable, immediately offering recommendations and explaining the origins of their fresh catches.

The oysters were truly the highlight of the visit—plump, briny, and served with an assortment of house-made sauces that elevated their natural flavors. I sampled a variety of shellfish, including clams, mussels, and crab legs, all of which were impeccably fresh and prepared with a light touch that allowed the seafood’s natural sweetness to shine. Their signature seafood platter was a masterpiece, piled high with delicacies that looked as stunning as they tasted.

Beyond the food, the service was prompt and attentive without being intrusive. The chef even took time to check in and share some insights about the day’s catch, which made the experience feel personalized. Every bite reminded me of why I love seafood, and I left feeling both satisfied and impressed. I highly recommend this oyster bar to anyone who appreciates premium shellfish and exceptional dining.

I really love eating oysters and seafood. Every time I have the chance to travel in Europe, Asia, or America, I always look for them. This time I got to try Taylor, and I can say only one thing — Amazing. The staff were lovely and very helpful with their recommendations. The food quality was truly top-notch.

Tip: Try the mixed platter first, then take notes on your phone about your top 3–5 favorites. Order the ones you love the most again so you can really enjoy them. The Riesling wine here also pairs very well with the seafood.

The best Oyster bar in Seattle!!!

The food is really good here. I recommend mix oyster platter the “Shuckers Dozen”, A Dozen of Curated Oysters direct from Taylor’s own Farms. Thus you could have taste the variety of the Oyster and order what you like the most later. The Mussels Classic Steamer together with the sourdough is the best. The best time to avoid peak is around 1:30-3:30 pm

The five stars rating goes to the chef who prepared the dishes. I must say the seasoning of each dishes are done at the perfect level. The sauce of in the Caramelized Black Cod does not covers the freshness of the cod. Really can feel the chef really passionate in preparing the dishes.

Great place to pre-funk for a Climate Pledge show. We had seafood dip, Caesar salad with pickled herring, Steamer Clams with Mussels in a lemon white wine steam, and a very spicy Bloody Mary with a loaded stir stick.

I came in with my friend, visiting from Portland, on 2/28/26. We had such an incredible time. Our hostess Elle (hopefully the correct spelling) gave us such a great experience. We were allowed to handle the geoducks and she took pictures of us doing so. We ordered the dungeness crab, a shuckers dozen oysters, the geoduck salad, wine, and bread. Elle checked on us throughout and we had such a great time chatting. She even gave us directions for excellent fries in the neighborhood! Jeremy was also an excellent server and helped make our time there incredible. We were craving oysters, but the whole experience delivered! I am so pleased we stopped in. Shout out to the whole crew, but Elle especially – this dinner truly made our day!

What a magical place. Ruth Reichl said this is where to go when you’re in Seattle, and she is (as always) correct. Exceptional service explaining their approach to farming oysters and how different farming practices affect oyster size and taste. And, of course, absolutely delicious food.

This must be the best time for oysters in Seattle in February 2026 as the selection and taste was exceptional at Taylor Shellfish. We initially were going to the Pioneer Square location but couldn’t find a parking spot after circling a few times; I really wanted to go there as I’ve never been to this location.

We came to this location and there is parking just across the street with easy access to this location. Love that the oysters are in tanks in the seating area and such a fresh smell. We ordered the sampling of most of the oysters and all were great and a few were fantastic.

What really made this visit over the top fantastic was that they had fresh SEA URCHIN that was incredible. Not sure if this is normal to have sea urchin, but we scored this time.

Definitely, Taylors is a fantastic place to eat oysters and has got better as we’ve gone to Taylors for years.
