The Raw Oysters were extremely fresh. The Shrimp was good but pricey. The Grilled Pacific Oysters were okay, stick with the raw. The staff was friendly and quick. The view of the water and lighthouse was amazing.
Oyster Tasting Notes:
Fat Bastard: Fishy
Sumo: Slightly sweet, my favorite
Beach Glass: Plain
Shigoku: Briny ocean taste
Kumomoto: Salty and sweet, solid
Pacific: Plain tasting as well
I’ve appreciated learning about different oyster varieties, their unique flavor profiles and textures. Yesterday, Virginica was my favorite! I also tried geoduck for the first time and loved the geoduck crudo.
Thank you Taylor Shellfish for your top quality sea treats, and thank you, Izzy, always being amazing. Love everything about this place, including the beautiful view.
The salad was a surprise standout, crisp and full of flavor, while the broccoli was simple but done right. Drinks and the vibe fit the setting, laid-back and very Pacific Northwest.
The only miss was the limited gluten free choices, but what we did try was memorable. Worth the stop if you want oysters with a view and a few solid sides to go with them.
The oysters were fantastic and we also had the Chowder which was great.
We ordered cold beers, a salad, and freshly shucked oysters but glazed over the multitude of catch varieties on offer. The best decision for us was to just ask for a sample of every kind of oyster, which made for a fun meal. Both the horseradish and vinegar were amazing pairings while the good ol’ lemon was also there.
We also brought with us a cooler box to take a stash of fresh oysters home for my wife’s colleague. The staff happily packed our box using a sealed plastic bag and plenty of ice. Everything made it across the Canadian border and held up well the next day.
For the curiously-minded, the coastal surroundings had plenty of photogenic sites to wander around and to take a few shots before setting off. Overall, a great destination experience that we heartily recommend.
