This was easily one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve had. For a Mexican restaurant you expect bold flavor, but the food here was completely bland and forgettable. The charro beans were the worst part — rock hard and undercooked like they had barely been simmered. Honestly, canned beans from the grocery store would have tasted better and at least been soft.

At this point they should honestly rename the place “The Rock Hard Bean Restaurant.”

The service made things even worse. When I politely asked the server if they offered a military discount, the response I got was shocking. The server said there was no discount “for people like that.” The tone was rude and dismissive.

I spoke to management expecting them to address the situation or at least apologize. Instead, they brushed it off and told me the owner “doesn’t like giving military discounts.” That was apparently their justification, and they didn’t seem concerned at all about how the server spoke to a customer.

Between the flavorless food, the rock-hard charro beans, the disrespectful comment from the server, and management doing nothing about it, this place left a terrible impression. I definitely won’t be returning.

Came here to try this place at the suggestion of a friend. I know they took over for another restaurant that failed at this location.

I thought the chips and dips were excellent. The green sauce was fire.

The fajitas were okay but not great. The beef is better than the chicken. The beef was really good, but the chicken lacked seasoning and flavor. The tortillas are of good quality. The rice and beans were also decent.

I would come back to try some of their other dishes. I would definitely get the beef fajitas again also.

My wife and I love this delightful family-owned restaurant. On multiple occasions over the last six months we have lunched and dinned in the FM 2920 location. Each time we have left satisfied and happy with the attractive, delicious food sold, affordable prices, and swift good service. We thoroughly enjoy the outside patio when the weather cooperates, and we relish conversing with the friendly staff and getting tips to improve our Spanish from them. In summary, I give this restaurant 4.7 stars — if they had Blue Bell ice cream instead of some other brand then I would give them 5 stars 🙂

This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve had in a long time. The food was terrible. For a Mexican restaurant, you’d expect bold flavors, but everything was bland and tasteless. The charro beans were especially awful — hard and undercooked like they had barely been heated up. Honestly, a cheap can of beans from the grocery store would have tasted better.

What made the situation even worse was the service. When I politely asked the server if they offered a military discount, their response was shocking. They said there was no discount “for people like that.” The tone and wording were incredibly rude and disrespectful.

I brought the issue to management hoping they would address it or at least apologize. Instead, they brushed it off and did absolutely nothing about it. No accountability, no concern, nothing. It was clear they didn’t care about the way customers are treated.

Between the flavorless food, the rock-hard beans, and the completely unacceptable comment from the server that management refused to handle, this place is a hard pass. I definitely won’t be back.

Stopped by Tavo’s Mexican Grill for lunch, and wow, what a gem! The food is authentic and absolutely delicious, bursting with bold, fresh flavors. Everything is made in-house, including the warm, soft tortillas that elevate every bite. My favorite dish was the Diablo shrimp—perfectly spicy, succulent, and packed with zesty goodness. The atmosphere is vibrant yet cozy, and the staff were super friendly. Highly recommend this spot for anyone craving real Mexican cuisine!

Tavo’s Mexican Grill is a gem! The Chicken Flautas were crispy, flavorful, and perfectly paired with their fresh toppings. The Healthy Bowl was a vibrant, satisfying mix of wholesome ingredients that left us feeling great. But the real star? Their cucumber fresca—refreshing, crisp, and absolutely to die for! Great service and a welcoming vibe made the experience even better. Can’t wait to return!

We’ve been dining at Tavo’s quite a bit lately, not only for its convenient location, but also for its good food and terrific service.
I have been really enjoying their Street Tacos, both chicken and beef, very much. The fajita meat is cooked perfectly with just the right seasonings. The sides are also prepared very well. We also like their chips and salsas, especially the green one.
Our servers have been spot on at every visit. Their friendliness and promptness makes for an enjoyable experience.
Tavo’s is also very clean and seems to be run very well. On one of our visits, the owner was there and he was very friendly. We will continue to dine at Tavo’s when we are in the mood for good Mexican food.

Have to rate it 5-star simply based on the manner in which Lorena and Manuel handled my meal experience. Ordered the Mixed Fajitas Ay Ay Ay for two; knew that it would be spicy and Manuel confirmed, but was not prepared for the dousing of radioactive Habanero sauce that the Fajita came in. While the sauce itself in small quantities served to enhance Salsa flavors, so much of it covering the entire dish was unexpected (wasn’t aware that spicy meant that). Could barely get through 1/3 of the meal – Manuel noticed I was uncomfortable and upon my mentioning that the dish was too fiery, he brought in Lorena, the owner. She was extremely gracious, understood my predicament, and instructed that a new Fajita dish sans the spicy sauce be prepared. The replacement dish was just fine, meats were tender and tasty. The other dish was a grilled chicken healthy bowl, which tasted fine. Overall, turned out to be a winner. The meal with taxes and tip ran $80. These are people who genuinely care that you have a good experience. Do visit them and try their fare.

The Hernandez family have opened yet another great restaurant with the food and service they are known for. We had a tamale dinner and a quesabirria dinner and both were excellent. The quesabirria is served with a spicy tomatillo sauce and a delicious chili spiced beef au just. We always order top shelf frozen margaritas with Herradura Silver tequila and they are always terrific. Ask for Manuel or Zuri for your server and you will get top notch service.
