My second time eating here as I love the food here. The wine I had this time was amazing so did the dishes. The snail dish was very tasty and the mussels were delicious. We loved all the dishes and loved the dessert as well. They have their own craft beer which is very tasty. The love the vibe of the waiters and I would like to recommend you to book in advance as they can get really crowded during dinner time . I promise that worth giving your time and money.

Food and services were excellent. We had to dine twice in a row during out 3-day visits. You may need to call and make reservations to be safe, but coming late dinner time, staff were friendly to accept walk-ins. Very busy restaurants clearly for a reason! Would highly recommend.

We had booked this for a 50th birthday (and had mentioned this on the booking), however, I don’t think the waiter even checked the booking at all. The service was efficient at first, but it was the cleaner who ended up asking if we wanted the bill after waiting for so long after coffee (we think it could have been a change in shifts for the waiting staff?). The service was not warm or friendly, which was very disappointing, as this had been a special treat and there were other restaurants we could have gone to instead. The food was very good, at least. Only one vegetarian option.

As a seaman, I’ve been to thousands of places around the world. But Le Havre Taverne Paillette stays strong in my heart. Excellent food, positive personal, historic building. So, what can I really say more? When my vessel visits beautiful Le Havre port on 6thofJanuary, I rushed the opportunity to be in taverrne. And always try to bring some of my crew there. Our deck cadet tasted oysters for the first time in his life. And the experience was far positive!!! The third officer got mad on snails and crabs. And I personally enjoyed all the food and positive gastronomic reactions of my guys. The price, the bill………Who really cares about that, when you explode with pleasure. Thank you so much for that one peace of joy in our hard seamen life.

Great place for a dinner. There was a moment of hesitation at the entrance – we didn’t have a reservation. But they seated us on veranda. The service was excellent – good suggestions, with a smile and patient treat us as not-French speakers.
The food was very good. Veal liver was superb! The Chateaubriand spent just 15 seconds too much on a grill (asked for medium). The fries were so-so. Both sauces (Roquefort and shallot onions) were good.
Prices are reasonable – so very good value for your money.
Recommend!

On February 12th, I went to dinner with a group of friends and we experienced a very violent situation.

From the start, our waiter showed an unfriendly attitude, but the most serious issue occurred when he physically assaulted another customer who was apparently bothering a woman.
The fight was so intense that the customer ended up bleeding from the face. Several people got involved, there was scuffling and shouting, and the scene caused panic and confusion among everyone present.

Given the severity of the situation, the only person in our group who spoke French called the police (their intervention was brief, as the assaulted customer had already left).

Then, the management’s handling was erratic: the aggressive waiter was not removed or detained, and continued serving tables as if nothing had happened.

After the altercation, we were moved to another table, but the same waiter, still visibly upset, continued attending to us. Feeling uncomfortable, I decided to leave.

My companions stayed a few minutes longer, but ultimately paid the full bill and also left when the injured customer, still visibly bleeding, returned and was served as normal.

This experience left a very negative impression regarding safety and professional crisis management. Additionally, the restaurant showed no acknowledgment or empathy toward us after the shocking scene we had to witness.

I understand that incidents can happen anywhere, but it is management’s responsibility to handle “the aftermath”. Seeing the waiter, still upset, continue serving tables as if nothing had happened was unbelievable.

Customers should not be made to feel unsafe, especially when the person serving them has just been involved in a bloody altercation. This is a complete lack of judgment.

I will never return to this restaurant.

I reserved here based on reviews here at Google maps but also from Internet blogs (in French). And it was worth it!
The restaurant seems big but tables for 2 persons are spread out over the (covered) terrace. Inside is room for groups, so there’s not an awful lot of noise from these. We sat next to the window, nice view on the street.
We took a menu with as starter oysters for my wife and escargots bourguignonne (snails) for me. Copious portions! For main course my wife had fish, I took an Alsatian plate – you can’t be hungry after this. Very good!
Crème brûlé as dessert to fill up some tiny gaps… This was a very nice experience!

Good and wallet-friendly french restaurant. The food portions are real huge though, it was a really dense bed of choucroute packed below the meats and seafood.

The beef was cooked alright, loved the flavours, especially the sauce on the side. We prefer the chateaubriand over the entrecote though, the entrecote was more tender but a bit too fatty for me.

Service was great too, would love to try the desserts next time because it looks super good!

We were visiting the city for just one day and wanted to try this restaurant — it looked popular and the seafood dishes caught our eye. When we arrived, the dining room was almost empty, yet we were told that all tables were reserved and they couldn’t seat us. Apparently, reservations have to be made at least a day in advance. Unfortunately, that meant no dinner and a spoiled evening. Disappointing experience, especially for out-of-town visitors. It would be nice if the staff showed a bit more flexibility in cases like this.
