Since moving to the area I have been to this restaurant often. Due to the nice waitresses and the deck I have introduced others to this place. UNFORTUNATELY I am disappointed in the managers decision about my bill. I had gone there and ordered a wonderful drink unfortunately I was told the bartender is no longer there so the waitress could not guarantee it would taste the same. Well it did not and I was unable to drink it. I was informed that they would not take it off my bill and I would have to pay for another. I tipped the waitress and wrote on the check that I was disappointed. For a 70$ bill it would have been good judgement to get me another drink. Now i will be forced to share this story with everyone.

I have lived in the area for many years and for whatever reason never thought to try. My husband and I always look for new dining experiences. I decided to google restaurants by the water since it was a beautiful night and Tavern by the Water came up. I decided to check out their menu online and Rib Eye steak especially seemed intriguing. So long story short my husband and I went and LOVED it we joke we should be food critics. Food was great and so was atmosphere even met Timmy the turtle! Highly recommend.

One of my favorite “go to” places. Food is always delicious. Always a great variety of beer on draft. Delicious Martini’s. Most of all, the staff is so friendly and inviting. Sitting on the deck overlooking the water is the icing on the cake.

My husband and I went to tavern on the water for a nice dinner and unfortunately the service was so slow. It took 30 minutes to get our appetizer and then our entrees finally came. Then it took forever to get our check. The other tables near us were also complaining about the service. One waitress said the kitchen was backed up but it wasn’t even that busy. Disappointed for sure.

Bartender is slow. Ordered stuffed oysters, got clams and mussels instead. Placed 2 orders for myself of 28$ for what I wanted yet did not get what I wanted. Waitress dropped it off and left. Waited a few minutes but being as hungry as I was started eating. After first plate she came by and I grabbed her and told her what happined she told me sorry there is nothing they can do. 7.75 per beer and yummy but no way is this served under 40 degrees. Overall horrible time for such an expensive tab. The plates I did get were yummy but quahaugs were a little sandy not that I care but was still hungry after eating the wrong dish. The serving spoon was dirty prior to my use. With the hassles with parking at this place and the slow service (never mind bad) I would suggest driving by.

I’ve been here before and the food was great and everything was really nice. Unfortunately that’s no longer the case. Not sure if new management or what but I won’t be taking my family back here anymore. The food took awhile to come out and there was barely anyone here. No bread or anything came out first so we all just say here for 40 min with nothing to pick on etc. The buffalo mac and cheese used to be phenomenal, but now just bland and average with no taste. The steaks are low end cuts with lots of nerve and tough to cut. Just overly very disappointed. We frequently done out 3-4 times a week and sadly this will no longer be one of our stops.

Great place. Good food except my husband’s burger was ordered medium well, came all bloody. They just slapped a new bun and piece of cheese. Still raw when he cut into it.

Beautiful spot on the water. The food was iffy, but it was better than the service. Waitress couldn’t count with her fingers. No apology after embarrasing a costumer, nor thanks for a good gratuity.
