“Welcome in!” We were greeted as soon as our not-so-small party of 10 enters the tavern. Come to find out it was the owner that made us feel so welcome right from the start. The staff immediately backed her up and helped our party find seating, get us drinks, and take our orders. I highly recommend stopping in and staying awhile, you won’t regret it. They have lounging areas for ‘happy hour’, tables for dining, and a good ole fashioned bar with seating for those that wish. Michelle gave us a tasty little shot, easy enough for anyone to try, it’s called a “beer shot”, DELISH! Give it a try and enjoy!

I absolutely love Tavern on Castell! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by a warm inviting atmosphere with an inside that is stunning. It’s the perfect mix of stylish and cozy, with beautiful lighting and decor that really sets the mood for a great night out. The staff here is just as amazing. Everyone is so friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. You can tell they care about creating a great experience, and it really shows. Definitely a go-to spot in New Braunfels. I can’t recommend it enough!

Very cool speakeasy kinda tavern. Probably 15 taps with a good selection. One of the best liquor selections I have found anywhere and the server knew his whiskey. Good bar seating, but there were also big couch sections, big leather chairs, some more secluded cozy seating. Tied for the best wings I have found in Texas. Fries were the best. Going back to try some more menu items. The 1/2 burgers with brisket and ground cuts looked amazing. The price was super good, I just run up big beer tabs. Definitely will be back.

Stopped in late Friday, for some eats and drinks, don’t be shy away as the outside is deceptively plain for the amazing creative and cozy decor inside. Well laid out with high top tables, low top tables and cozy couches and chairs for a great combination of eating and socializing spaces. We started with the Brussel sprouts, they were tasty and well seasoned, be prepared it was the most giant order I have ever seen for an order of sprouts! We followed the sprouts with the queso and chips, and it rivaled any queso I have had, great flavor and good chips. For the main we split the double burger and I have to say it is what made me write this review. It was absolutely the most delicious gourmet burger I have had in a long time! Completely surprised me with the amazing flavor and combination of toppings. This burger easily rivals Nancy’s Hustle burger in Houston!!! If you are in the area this is a required stop.

Love the funky vibe of this place. Lot’s of room and different seating styles/arrangements. Service is always “meh” but it’s consistent. Food isn’t anything crazy but it’s also consistent and good. Been here multiple times and never had a bad experience.

We stopped by the tavern on Castell and had a nice little lunch and was amazed with how great this place looked. We’re excited to find out that they are going to have karaoke on Mondays that should be fun and live music Thursday night and Friday night.

I had the Tavern Burger, she had The Grinder Sandwich. The burger was an instant classic in my book. Beef patty with a thin crust with a juicy middle cooked to perfection. Fries were on point and well seasoned. The Grinder had different cold cut meats on a marble rye bread. Very fresh. The atmosphere was extremely welcoming and homey. All of the details are there and very on point. Authentic antique furnishings, deep moody colors with pops of color. Loved the bookcases and art deco vibe. It fused really well within the historical building which flashed some of its rustic brick, concrete walls and industrial piping. A really great place to take a client, host a talk/ seminar. The quiet room felt dreamy and was furnished with couches, club chairs, and flowing curtains. This would be a great place to escape to do some work out of the office. I was surprised to find an almost secret door connecting to Comal River tattoo which was adjoined to the side. Really cool. Everyone was so warm and welcoming. The service was top notch and our food was served within 10min of being there. I will definitely be putting this on my list of go to establishments.

The service and the quality of the food was EXCEPTIONAL… What is pictured is the Pork Wings (they, literally, fell off the bone), the Genoa (Italian) Sandwich and the Spinach Mushroom Flatbread.. all very yummy…. Even the fries with my buddy’s sandwich were excellent. Bravo folks!

Great bluesy vibe live music was acoustic and good. They even took requests. burgers were good wings were too soft for my liking but my husband enjoyed them. The spinach dip was good but it had a lot of cheese on top which is usually great but it wasn’t served right away and hot and so it was hard. Won’t deter us from returning. We are definitely looking forward to going back.
