I really wanted to like Tavern Lounge…genuinely. I gave it more than one chance, hoping the experience would improve, but unfortunately it didn’t.
From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels unwelcoming. Security doesn’t greet guests when entering or exiting and often comes across as unfriendly, which sets the tone for the visit.
Inside, the service is inattentive. It appears that regulars or friends of the owners receive most of the attention, while other paying patrons are largely overlooked. Staff members spend time smoking hookah themselves and rarely check in on customers or switch coals, which noticeably impacts the quality of the hookah.
Despite often being empty, there is still a cover charge, which is difficult to understand given the overall experience. The hookah itself was easily the worst I’ve had in Baltimore.
I’d recommend going to The Living Room right up the street instead. While it’s much smaller, it offers a far more welcoming environment. The staff is friendly, attentive, and it feels more comfortable giving them your business.
Tavern Lounge had potential, but the execution and staff ultimately fall short. I won’t be returning.

I’m all for supporting small businesses, which is why I gave this hookah lounge another chance. Unfortunately, the experience was very uncomfortable from the moment I walked in.
As soon as I entered, I was greeted by a very intimidating man who called himself “security.” Instead of a welcoming hello, I was immediately met with a credit card machine. They charge women $15 after 9:00 PM, and I walked in at 9:04, which felt extremely off-putting give the fact that it was empty inside .
When I went inside, the place was completely empty — no customers at all, only employees. The workers were sitting around smoking hookah themselves, which made the atmosphere feel unprofessional. Throughout our entire visit, no one checked on us even once. We had to get up every time to look for a server whenever we needed anything.
To be fair, the DJ was good and the music was enjoyable, which was one of the few positives of the night.
Overall, the vibe was unwelcoming and the service was lacking. Between the aggressive greeting at the door, the immediate charge, and the complete lack of hospitality, it’s not a place I’d feel comfortable returning to or recommending.

TJ, his family and co-workers make you feel as if you are part of their family and everyone receives world class service. If you are looking for a relaxing atmosphere, great service, and multiple flavor hookahs then this is the place to visit.

I frequent a lot of the hookah lounges in the area and Tavern is by far the best places I’ve been. The atmosphere is amazing and the hookah is always on point. If you’re looking for great place to relax and catch a vibe, this is a spot to consider!
