Located inside historic Rice’s Hotel / Hughlett’s Tavern, all food at the Tavern Café is made by the volunteers of the Tavern Culinary Group. Menu is limited but changes weekly depending on what the volunteers want to make! Enjoy soups, salads, sandwiches, fresh-baked bread, desserts, breakfast scones, and quiche. Special on Heathsville Farmers Market day (third Saturday, April – Oct.), buy sweet treats warm from the oven.

Support a local historic spot, repurposed tor today’s artisans and with great cooking by a volunteer staff. Great spot for gifts – spend locally! This particular visit used an auxiliary building for a lovely English Style Tea as a fundraiser – Partners for Pets, the regional no kill pet shelter.

Visited the tavern during a festival, but it rained the entire day. All the vendors were wonderful, though. Ate while we were there and really enjoyed the food and service. Will have to go back when it isn’t raining.

Be aware, this is all staffed by volunteers, even the Cafe. Outstanding, home-made foods in the Cafe, went to the Blacksmith Guild area, really wonderful. Be sure to go upstairs to the Weavers Guild.
