About Tavern by The Sea Overlooking Wickford Harbor is the majestic Tavern by the Sea. This wonderful historical building is reminiscent of an old framed boathouse. Here you can sit on the deck and dine while watching white swans and ducks swimming in the cove with their little ones following close at hand. The water views are terrific, either dining inside or out. Relax and let your thoughts sail away with the sailboats in the harbor. The deck feels a bit rustic and is accented by beautiful umbrellas to shade you from the sun. The outdoor granite bar is relaxing with beautiful views of the water and offers refreshing summer cocktails and a full menu. The interior showcases a handsome and inviting exotic granite bar featuring great wines a

Cozy boathouse-style pub with a deck serving seafood like fish & chips plus some American classics.

Came here for lunch with my boyfriend and we both loved our meals. I had lobster ravioli and he had the lobster roll + bacon and they were both incredible! I highly recommend sitting outside by the water for the best experience! So peaceful and relaxing

My son and I came here the first week of August 2025 while we were in town, wandering around the shops. We sat outside on the patio. The ambiance was pleasant, and view, serene.

The warm sun shined down on us as we chilled under the umbrella in the low 80’s and blue sky weather.

Our server Sarah was excellent. She was pleasant, professional, and attentive.

The food was very good. A few summery beverages, some RI Clam Cakes (a RI Tradition) with delicious tartar sauce, and the Tavern Burgers were really good! We ate it all!

Sadly, there was no room for dessert. But we will be back again!! If you are looking for a quaint, easy to get around town on foot, shops, and restaurants, then Wickford is a nice place to swing by. And for the price, setting, service, and offering, Tavern by the Sea is worth a visit.

We were here our last night of vacation in Narragansett, and this was my favorite meal by far. We got there before the usual dinner time rush, so our experience might be a bit different than others, but it was still great. Truly exceptional Santorini octopus, and the lobster rangoons were excellent. I was especially happy with the octopus; it was not rubbery or chewy, but perfectly charred and tender. Lovely atmosphere by the water, and solid cocktails, to boot. I look forward to coming back the next time we’re in the area.

I did not realize just how seasonal Tavern By The Sea is! It seems that there are indoor dining spaces in the restaurant, but a majority of the seating is outside. If you were around New England this winter, it felt like the ones we used to have. Tavern By The Sea would have spent an inordinate amount of funds trying to keep warm, so it’s good that they are open in the late Spring, Summer, and early Fall.

We went on the weekend that they had opened up, and decided on dining in one of their interior dining spaces. The table was close to the bar and the server station. You could tell that the staff was getting ready for the busy-ness of the Summer season!

The food is good. The gluten-free pasta dish was tasty, the burger was, too. The fries that come with the burger were substantial. Their Caesar salad was well put together!

I think that this restaurant is an awesome place to take in this little bitty coastal village of Rhode Island. There might be a few other places within this “urban center,” but I think Tavern By The Sea has a real feeling of comfort and style.

Went on a rainy day and tried the French onion soup. I also had a glass of rose and a salad. Soup had good flavor and they offered a GF option which is a plus!

They split the salad which was great. Server was attentive and it was overall a good experience. Would love to sit outside for those vibes!!

Just was a bit expensive for a lunch! 2 roses, 2 soups and 1 split salad with chicken for $100 after tip

This is me and my girlfriend’s favorite spot for a great cocktail and delicious food, they never miss and the bartender Brittney is absolutely amazing and always gives the best service. Our classic is the White sangria and white sauce mussels. But this is a need to go to spot!!

Hands down, THE best lobster bisque that I have ever had. I am a lobster bisque foodie, and this was so good I ate it half a spoonful at a time, to make it last!! The rest of our meal and drinks were great, and the service and staff were super sweet too. Seriously recommend!!

My wife and I had a fantastic experience for lunch. We sat outside overlooking the pond. My wife had the Cajun tacos and I had the fish n’ chips. Both plates were absolutely delicious and we ate every bite. The server was excellent, very timely, and friendly. Everything was clean. The unsweetened tea was wonderful. I will definitely be returning.

I’ve always loved Tavern by the Sea – its atmosphere right on the water has made it one of my favorite spots in Wickford. But I have to say, I was really disappointed this time around.

I ordered the hot buttered lobster roll, which is priced at $29, and unfortunately it just didn’t live up to expectations. The portion was small, the roll was barely filled, and the lobster was served over lettuce – which felt like filler more than anything. It also lacked the rich, buttery flavor you’d expect from a proper hot lobster roll. The fries and pickles were just okay, nothing that really helped justify the price.

I hate to leave a negative review, especially for a place I’ve always enjoyed, but this meal just didn’t feel worth nearly $30.
