I had the jalapeno burger the bun to meat/topping mix was just right. Prices are slightly higher than an average bar and grill however it is 100% worth it. If you are looking for a place to have dinner or a date it’s a great spot. Service is quick and food is good!

We were promptly sat. Our server was very nice. We had seen a 25oz Long Island tea on the online menu and we were excited to try it. The first one came out and was okay. We ordered coconut chicken, loaded fries, chicken wing bone in, a bourbon burger, pulled pork tacos and fish tacos and another round of the Long Island teas. The drinks came back and one was dark and the other see through. One drink was completely just sweet and sours or lemonade and the other was mostly cola of some sort and sweet and sour. We didnt finish either one and I ordered a beer. The food came out. The coconut chicken was not anything special and didn’t taste like coconut. The onion rights that came with the chicken was from a bag. The fries were okay, the chicken wings had sat under the heat lamp for a long time and the sauce if it had any was dried. The burger had absolutely no flavor at all and that is hard to do with a BOURBON BURGER. The fish tacos were cold and the fish was somehow chopped up or it looks like mash somehow, the beans and rice that came with it were the worst I’ve ever seen and the beans were dry and flavored with taco seasoning maybe? The pork tacos were unimpressive. At least the beer was cold. None of us finish our drinks or meals. When our awesome server asked us if we needed boxes, we said no thank you just the check please. She questioned us about the food and we told her was I had previously stated. A manager of some sort had came out and apologized about the food and gave us a voucher for a free entree for a chance to get us back. The bill total was $178. $52 of it being for the Long Island teas. We left the voucher on the table and will not be back. We heard they had good food and maybe it was an off night for food and drinks but the visit was so bad that we will never return. We are here for work and from out of town so maybe that was good food for a local standard but I find it hard to believe that anyone would say it’s good food.

Stopped here to eat after visiting Kiwani’s. It was definitely busy, but we had a table within 15 minutes. Service was fast and kind. We started with the cheese curds which were pretty standard – always tasty! Each of us got a different burger from the menu and really enjoyed it. Loved the waffle fries with seasoned sour cream!! I don’t know if I agree that they’re the best in all of Minnesota, but they were delicious nonetheless.

My only complaint is that it was SO loud inside. They had the music turned up loud enough to be heard over the crowd of people, and it was just a lot. Lucky for me I was able to just pop out my hearing aids and enjoy dinner in a more quiet, muffled environment; but my partner said it was loud even for her. There were a lot of tables open near the back of the restaurant, away from the bar. Maybe it would’ve been nicer to sit back there.

Still, great food and great service. Would definitely go back on another trip down to Mankato!

We really enjoyed our lunch here. Service was awesome, the cheese curds almost perfect, the shrimp appetizer was tasty, we loved the hot sauce. I had the pulled pork and I thought it was very good. I think the whole family was happy with their food. They also had a great selection of craft beer! We will definitely go back next time we are in town.

Overall, our experience was ok. The service was good and the atmosphere was fun.

Our food was just ok, though… Although the cheese curds were actually really good, good enough that I’d just go back for those.

Our main courses were not anything special, though.

I think this is a good place to go for drinks, watch sports and hang out with friends.

I enjoy myself every time I’m at Tave on the Ave! The Bahn Mi bowl with steak is a go-to for me and they have a lovely selection of whiskeys. The service is always friendly and attentive! I would highly recommend stopping here if you’re in the area and looking for a low-key, but enjoyable dinner/drinks experience. Thank you!

My husband was annoyed that we were going to eat at “just another hole in the wall bar,” but he was so very wrong. Tav on the Ave is most certainly not a dive bar.

First and foremost, the drinks are super fun. Their signature drinks come with toys (we received rubber ducks, pop sockets, and sunglasses with our drinks), and they were delicious to boot.

Second, the atmosphere of the restaurant has a ton of upscale surprises. Their bathrooms have real, single-use cloth towels, which caught me by surprise. They have a really nice patio with a fire pit, but not only do they have a fire pit, they have an amenities station where they have blankets, sunscreen, bug spray and pretty much any other thing you could want to enjoy a stay on the patio. These little details made a huge impact!

The menu has a nice variety and has a little bit of everything, so you can have Mexican, Italian, Asian, American–it’s all there. I had the Bahn Mi bowl with coconut chicken that maybe wasn’t anything to write home about, but it was pretty decent. I’m not from the Mankato area, but if I’m in town again, I would absolutely go back!

Good service and good food. I would definitely go back. We had the cheese curds, burgers, and roast beef sandwich. My husband wished the meat was shredded more but said all in all it was good. Loved the chips-good stuff. Our server was super nice and attentive but not bothersome.
