Last minute order for a smash cake and they killed it! Not only did it come out beautiful but the cake itself was good, nice and moist. Thank you Taunton Ave Bakery for accommodating me last minute and making my sons cake special!

My first visit was today. I bought rolls that are priced higher than other bakeries, a pizza strip that had too much herbs in the tomato sauce and wine biscuits that are the worst i have ever had! Hard as rocks, so over cooked and not good flavor. Even dunking them in coffee didn’t help soften them. I am mad that I bought two packages of them as I hate throwing money away.
I will be having the rolls later and will come back to update(though I am not optimistic about them).
Update: I thought rolls were ok, but my husband thought they had an odd taste to them. Everything we bought had an odd taste. The herbs in the pizza strip left an odd aftertaste and the wine biscuits – I can’t even describe what they tasted like, but not wine biscuits.

If I want to feel like I’m having an authentic meal in Portugal, Açores islands or Cabo Verde, I head to Taunton Ave Bakery. Even with the bridge debacle, I make an effort to stop in and support this woman-owned and led small local business. The corn bread is rustic, fresh and satisfies the soul every time. The Caçoila and Bifana sandwiches are some of the best in the diaspora. Baked goods are always fresh/warm. I appreciate that the bakery sells authentic products straight from the islands. The owner and staff are all welcoming and accommodating. Forever patient and never shaming folks for not being able to order in fluent Portuguese. Obrigada!

A few weeks ago I brought some Cannolis and Pastel de nata to a dinner. Everyone raved about how delicious they were. I have also had the Portuguese Kale soup, Caldo Verde, Bifana and Sweet rice. Everything is delicious!

They made a unicorn pull apart cake for my baby’s 1st birthday party. It came out amazing! Looked great and tasted so good! When I placed the order the baker came to the front to look at pictures and promised he could make the vision come true. Highly recommend.

Went here on a last min birthday hunt for brownies. Boy was I not disappointed. They had quite a few to choose from. They had a plethora of pastries and sweets. And breads. My goodness. I was quite impressed. Its a beautiful spot. The staff was friendly and helpful. I am going back in a couple days for sure. The breads are speaking to me. Haha. Oh and also the prices are absolutely fair!!! Can’t wait to visit again.

Probably the best Portuguese bakery we have been to since we moved to Providence Rhode island. All their items were so fresh. They have both bread and dessert items. they make excellent and extremely fresh sandwiches. We got some coffee and it was surprisingly really tasty. The staff are really efficient and super friendly. There was a constant flow of people which is a good sign that this place gets a lot of repeat customers. Everybody knew what they wanted.

It’s a great local bakery with freshly made bread daily, and it also tastes delicious. They also have other Portuguese products available. Their prices are great for the quality of food that you get. Their customer service is outstanding, and I will definitely return again in the future.

I moved back to Rhode Island recently and was looking for malasadas. I called and the person was super nice and explained the menu and options. Malasadas are only made on the weekends and you can pre-order, so I did. When I picked up, I also scanned the bakery cases and spoke with the discombobulated line inside (I say this with love). The folks that come here are regulars and most of them just want bread or Portuguese groceries like cheese or linguisa. I saw someone walking down the street with a bag of bread. I, however, wanted one of each custard tart (see photos of what I went home with). It totaled just under $30! So cheap. Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed in the malasadas. It wasn’t the taste I remembered from my childhood. The other pastries were OK, but nothing hit a home run for me and my family. If I went back, I would look at the other offerings like bread, empanadas, groceries, or soup.
