If you live in Kansas City and have not been to this restaurant you are missing out. I have been here in KC for 4 years and not found a decent Mexican restaurant until Tatema. This is the best. From the rice, the beans to the main items amazing! The brown salsa is unique and the most flavorful you will have anywhere. All recipes are that of the owner behind the grill. She’s what makes this food unbelievable. While there I ordered 24 tamales for upcoming holiday. I can’t wait to try them.

Super cozy little hole in the wall spot with excellent food. The tacos were some of the best I’ve ever had. I almost cried they were so good. Only reason I deduct a star was because the website prices were about a dollar less than the prices on the menu at the restaurant, so we were a little shocked that it was going to be more expensive than we were initially promised by looking online. Website just needs updated. This had absolutely no impact on whether or not I decide to come back though. I’m already drooling for those tacos.

Great food, always well seasoned, fresh, I believe the corn tortillas are actually homemade which sets this place miles apart from its competitors in this area. Restaurant is always clean typically not crowded. Food is always made fresh to order wait is typically 5-10 mins from my experience. The employees are always welcoming and nice. My only complaint is I feel they could put a little more in the taco for the price but overall great place to try if your on this side of town. My family and I will likely frequent this place

Quesa birria tacos were very very very good. 3 for bout 12$. Only reason it looses a star is because I had some meat that wasn’t cooked all the way. Doesn’t come with 2 tortillas each, and Doesn’t need them! Nice amount of spice and the consume is top 3 in town. They also play great music videos and have photos of Pancho Villa on the wall. Didn’t take long to cook and I came in 35 minutes till close.

Little hole in the wall with great street tacos! I had carnitas and Mexican rice. It was all made fresh and really delicious. Oy two people working there but they managed it well. Will definitely go back!

You need to try this place. Super good I got the quesobarria and will just stop in to get them. On Saturday your in for a treat but be fast like line out the door before they open be ready. They do tamales on sat and when there gone there gone!!!!

Quaint little Mexican Mom and Pop. It was clean and quiet with enjoyable mexican music in the background.
They have daily specials and are apparently known for their street tacos which I intend to try.
I had the enchilada special with green sauce. The chicken was excellent; tender and moist, not to spicy. Green sauce tasted homemade and fresh. Beans and rice were better than average.

Tatema is a little hole in the wall restaurant, but let me tell you, their food is incredible! I am generally a person who doesn’t like mexican food (at least the american version of it), however when I got tacos here for the first time, they were truly life changing. I have yet to branch out to any other food item, but their tacos alone are absolutely delicious! I would highly highly recommend you go there! I have introduced a handful of my family members to Tatema and they instantly loved it! The staff is also very friendly and it’s a great place!

Awesome food! Chips are made to order so they’re fresh out of the fryer when they hit the table! They have an amazing secret recipe salsa for those hot chips! My only complaint was the TV was too loud but it was tolerable. We’re actually excited & looking forward to taking others here as it’s a great find for authentic none fast food tasting Mexican! We’ll be back with the whole family! Oh, watch the hot sauce because it’s HOT!
