We first went to the Tasty Spot Cafe in Chino Hills and liked it, so we decided to try the Irvine location.
The food was good—we ordered four dishes and enjoyed them. But the place was pretty loud. People were talking really loudly, and it made the space feel noisy and hard to relax.
We’ll probably go back, but maybe just for takeout next time.

We’re lucky to have this gem in Irvine! My husband, who’s from Hong Kong and very picky about authentic Cantonese food, absolutely loves it here. We often come for breakfast—and their BBQ duck is a must: incredibly juicy and full of flavor!

My family and I visited Tasty Spot (formerly Delicious Corner) and the food was still good overall but not as good as when it first opened as Delicious Corner 2 or 3 years ago. The service is OK like before but the actual food quality has declined, e.g. the Three Delicacy Combination (roasted pork belly, char siew and roast duck) that cost $29 was a major disappointment. The meat was mediocre like 2-day old and the few slices of duck were mainly bone and skin with minimal meat. The wonton noodle soup was artificially flavored that tasted more like chicken waste broth. However, the beef brisket pot, tofu roast pork pot, fried green (or long) beans, fried noodles and Jasmine tea were excellent authentic HK type cuisine. Not shown here is the fried beef rice noodles, that was really good.
This is still the best Hong Kong style restaurant (or HK cafe) in Irvine. There’s another one in Irvine called Tasty Garden on Culver Blvd that is not as good (actually seemed quite bad) in terms of food quality and service. I will go back to Tasty Spot again but will not ever get the Three Delicacy Combination that used to be the best (sadly).

I gave this place so many chances and have returned as it’s the only other HK style “cha chaan tang” around. Today may have been the last visit. Ordered the sole fillet and it was at least half the thickness of what you would normally get at a HK style cafe. It was so dry and over cooked, I stopped eating it. Would have given 1 star but added another as most of the staff were attentive and friendly.
From previous visits: the pineapple buns here are not what you would expect if you’ve tried the real thing or at other DFC locations. They are smaller, dry, and often stale. Not remotely as soft as it should be. 3/3 times I’ve ordered it, it came out room temp at most.
Milk tea is water down and doesn’t have the strong HK milk tea flavor you’d expect from a cafe. Lemon ice tea is decent.

If you’re looking for some delicious and fulfilling food in Irvine this is one of those places! This was my first time in this part of town and from the outside you can already smell and taste the food before you even walk through the doors. Parking was aplenty and the location was such a prime spot. The interior was beautifully decorated and there was really big neon signs that made you feel like you were back in Hong Kong. I’ve always loved Hong Kong style Chinese food so coming here was a no brainer. We came on a Wednesday night and it was pretty packed, but we were able to be seated almost immediately which was really nice. Service was very attentive and the food was great! We ordered a couple items: the Hong Kong BBQ combo, salt and pepper pork chops, and a grilled chicken & noodle dish!
The BBQ combo was superb. I really loved the taste of the roasted duck. The skin was crispy and juicy. The roasted pork out of the three was the best. It was super flavorful and I wished I had bought another round. The fried pork had a great mix of fat and meat. The skin was very crispy and not hard so it made it super enjoyable to savor and eat.
Almost always, I always get the salt and pepper pork chops. It’s one of my favorite Chinese dishes. The pork chop was very flavorful and the meat was super juicy. The seasoning on top made the dish pop.
I’ve had grilled chicken and noodles at other Hong Kong style restaurants and this one has one of the juiciest and moist chicken I’ve had. The lemon pepper flavor really makes the chicken super delicious. The sauce for the noodles is kind of like a spicy tangy sauce. So unless you’re not a spicy type of person I would try getting different sauce if you can.
Overall experience was great and I would definitely come back again if I were to come back to Irvine for some delicious Hong Kong Style food!

We ordered House Special crispy chowmein with pork. The dish came out without the pork. When we inquired the waiter about the missing pork, the waiter took our dish back to the kitchen and we had to wait for another 8 minutes before he brought it back to our table. The restaurant has only a few occupied tables at the time. The waiter should have left the crispy chowmein dish with us and bring the pork on a separate dish from the kitchen because my son had started to eat the crispy chowmein already. It was rude to take our half eaten dish away.
But the problem got worst. When the waiter brought the dish back to our table, the crispy chowmein was drenched in nothing but starch sauce. It was like soup and the chowmein was no longer crispy.
We paid a lot of money for a meal and it was ruined. We brought the attention to 3 different employees working there but they just shrugged it off without any accountability or apology. Terrible terrible service!! We were charged full!!

Awesome service. Came with a group of 8 for NYE. Private room was first come first serve as told when making reservations. We got the room! Everyone was very happy with the dishes. Note: Peking duck order doesn’t come with meat just skin for the buns – meat comes in the accompanying soup.

While this place doesn’t have as many options to eat for breakfast as other DFC locations, its still nice to have one in the first place. The portions are big and designed for sharing, and even for breakfast theres not a lot of people to eating. The parking is alright, but it is recommended to come early since zion market is also in the same plaza.
