The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, especially in the “tree house” section of the patio, which is essentially a deck built into the trees. They had a little “bar” decking that we sat at under the trees.
Courtney was our server and was friendly, attentive, and made the experience easy and enjoyable.
We didn’t plan on eating, but were dying to try some of their small plates that they had on their happy hour menu. The items we got were literally like two bites, but packed a punch in flavor and a great way to try a little of everything should you decide. The bites came out super quick and obviously disappeared into our belly that much quicker.
We ordered the short rib flauta: crispy with incredibly tender, flavorful meat, and the single pork rib: fell right off the bone and gochujang bbq sauce was a fun spin. The house margarita was solid, but the Pedro Pascual was the standout and would totally get again!
Great service, great drinks, and a laid-back vibe. We’ll definitely be back to try more of the menu!
Brunch was hearty and memorable. The Bad Ass BELT lived up to its name with thick slab bacon, a sunny-side egg, heirloom tomato, and aioli layered on Texas toast—messy in the best way and perfectly paired with fries. The Biscuits & Gravy gave a thoughtful twist on the Southern classic, with a sausage patty, silky egg, and beef fat gravy that was rich but not overly heavy. Loaded Fries topped with short rib, guacamole, and pico were indulgent yet balanced, ideal for sharing. Drinks were equally impressive—the Frozen Piña Colada was light and tropical, while the Frozen Kentucky Coffee was creamy and indulgent, almost dessert-like.
Dinner elevated things further. The Gulf Coast Redfish stood out with its delicate texture under crawfish mustard Béarnaise, tomato jam, masa bread crumbs, and chili threads—a dish that felt composed and memorable. For comfort, the Chicken Fried NY Strip delivered with a golden crust, juicy steak, country gravy, and rustic mashed potatoes, striking the right balance between indulgent and approachable.
Overall, Taste on Main shows remarkable range and consistency. It’s elevated enough for a special night out, yet warm and familiar enough to feel like a neighborhood go-to. A welcome addition to Buda, and absolutely worth repeat visits.
I was in the restaurant industry from 1992-2021. Almost 30 years of hustling from diners to chain restaurants to working under James Beard award winning chefs. Nothing I have ever experienced has been as amazing as Taste on Main. And that’s saying a lot…
We went for brunch this morning. My husband and I ordered the same thing, the country breakfast, and added a side of pancakes, thinking we would only take a couple of bites. We have been to SO many brunches. This was hands down the best brunch ever. In a food coma, we decided to make a rezzie for dinner at 8.
Oh. My. God.
We were still kind of feeling the effects of the house made sausage, thick bacon, butter scrambled eggs cooked to perfection and house made sourdough toast and the BEST PANCAKES I’D EVER HAD IN MY EXISTENCE.
So we opted to share some things at dinner. We did the chicken fried New York strip topped with cream gravy and served with mashed potatoes and got a side of the Gruyère Fusilli pasta, which was basically their version of a macaroni and cheese and we started off with a bone marrow butter and pimento cheese along with bread service. When I tell you, it was the best comfort food I had ever had in my 55 years of existence, I am not exaggerating, and the service was impeccable! Evan was our server for both dining experiences and Emily the bar manager made her way over to thank us. I highly recommend asking for Evan when you go there to eat and I highly recommend you GO THERE TO EAT!! Good Lord almighty, this restaurant is !!! GET TO TASTE ON MAIN in Buda! You won’t regret it! Props to the lovely owners , Tamara and Travis for being kind enough to sit and listen to me gush about how amazing their place was! We will be back and will spread the word!!
