“This restaurant was okay — I kinda enjoyed my Reuben. Our boneless wings were dried out, though… My daughter likes her boneless wings a lot softer. My Reuben only had one small piece of beef, that was a little disappointing. The bread had a garlic-bread seasoning that was very good. It was my first time here. I will go again, just not order those items.”

Cute little place with amazing food. One of—if not the—best Chicago dogs in town. Whenever I’m in the area, I make it a point to stop by. The staff is always friendly, the food comes out fast and hot, and it never disappoints. A must-stop spot!

Got a gyro and rueben delivered. Really good amount of food and quality for the price point. What makes it 5 stars is they were considerate enough to serve the gyro sauce on the side so it wouldn’t get soggy while being delivered.

I was Born and Raised in Chicago (South Side) and missed the take out restaurants and street food terribly. Taste of the Windy City Is the Real Deal! Taste, menu selections, service, realistic fair prices. This place beats Portello’s. The one thing missing from their Combo was the Red Sause, On the South Side they usually have a choice, clear (Au ju) or Red Sause A thick red sause (pizza type). That’s minor and the Clear is top notch

First picture is an actual Chicago Italian Beef from Chicago!!!

Customer Service: 9/10
How Fast the food came: 9/10
Quality of the food: 6.4/10
Pricing: Above average

Ordered a Gyro combo and an Italian beef combo and it came to $28. I took a trip to Chicago last week and stopped by Johhnies Italian Beef. The difference is night and day between that and the Taste of the Windy City. I think what throws off the Italian beef for the Windy City is the bread. A different type of bread was used in the city. The Gyro was decent, above average. Fries and onion rings were fresh and hot. The portion on the onion rings were kind of sad so be aware when you order them. The service was top notch. 2 gentleman working who spoke with manners and served fast with a decent crowd plus Uber eats orders. I would maybe stop back because my go to spot is Chicago grill more towards downtown Appleton. Will do a review on them soon!

Alright, where to start? We walked in on a calm weekend afternoon with no expectations of what the food would be like but high hopes for finding a new spot that could satisfy our Chicago food itch. Being a Chicago native I’m always on the lookout for a good gyro and an amazing Italian beef.

I went with a gyro which was generously portioned with heaps of meat as a gyro should be the tzatziki sauce was perfectly made and tasty. The fries were a delicious and perfectly crispy they paired perfectly well with the gyro of which I unluded pictures. Pepsi product we’ll carbonated and we’ll mixed.

You might be wondering if all was well with the food why am I rating it 4 stars? Well… the small details of the restaurant can’t help but be noticed. While it’s an overall pleasant place to sit it seems like there’s been an overall neglect of cleaning the things that are frequently used. The pop machine had old old pop splash covering it I can’t imagine what the inside looked like. The napkin dispenser was also grimy. Vinyl on the seats was torn open in some booths. Additionally, and this is just a nitpick, the decor in the place doesn’t seem to follow a theme. It’s not Chicago themed, it’s not Chicago sports themed , it’s not sports themed, it’s somehow a hodgepodge of all of those things and it takes away from the restaurant.

I’ll be back for sure though. I still have to try the Italian beef.

If you like American food, you will not be disappointed. Great burgers, great hotdogs. Not just American foods though. A huge variety of foods including falafels. Been here probably over 60 times, will keep coming back.

I honestly wish there was a NO star rating as that is exactly what I would give. We ordered one combination with Italian sausage, sliced roast beef, provolone cheese and peppers. I had my dry with aujus on the side with fries and a drink. My Partner had the roast beef combo dipped with American cheese and fries.
Paid $28.00
My Italian sausage was so dried I took it out of my sandwich and banged it on the table.

The roast beef was HORRIBLE thin and tasted like it was frozen meat reheated from Gordons… disgusting.

I took my sandwich back to the counter and I stated to the young man that I didn’t like the taste of the roast beef and the Italian sausage is hard and dried out. I asked for a Chicago Dog instead and asked for the difference that I had paid, he said we don’t give money back.

Another man approached me and started yelling at me and refused to give my money back minus the $4.49 for one hotdog. He said it’s my problem that I don’t like their food and refused to give my money back.

We left all the food at the table and walked out!
The WORST FOOD & SERVICE EVER!!

I felt literally robbed. The manager said that I’m the “only”person that has ever complained. I find that to be bull$h!t…. To this day I would never go back.. plus they took my money and I had nothing to show for it.

DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY… ☠️

The atmosphere inside taste of the Windy City is calm, peaceful, and it takes you to another place. The guy that was working the day I stopped by was super friendly, understanding, and invited me to share with him how my life, how my wife enjoyed her sandwich. She ordered a double bacon cheeseburger no bun. Add nacho cheese with no onions or pickles. This guy took the time to repeat the order back to me and made sure it was made just the way she wanted. He even put it in a special packaging. There was a short wait, but he was the only person there working and two other orders were policed right after mine. So, he had to do all three of our orders and he brought them all out at the same time serving not just the food, but also a smile in friendly gesture. I highly recommend going to Taste of the Windy City in Little chute Wisconsin.
