We ordered the smoked brisket, the smoked brisket sandwhich, and the pulled pork sandwhich. The smoked brisket was so savory and the fat pieces simply melted in your mouth! It came with sauce on the side and it was delicious with it’s sweet and vinegar notes. It paired beautifully with the brisket and even pulled more of the smokey flavor out. The pulled pork was my personal favorite and I usually don’t like pork! !WHAT! It was moist and melted in your mouth. Full of delicious flavor. It paired really well with the coleslaw. The coleslaw was the perfect blend of not too sweet and a nice vinegar flavor. The bun on both sandhwiches was super buttery and soft. We also enjoyed sides of mac and cheese and beans which were both incredible. I’ve never experienced this type of mac and cheese and at first I wasn’t sure about it, then I took a bite of the beans and my mind exploded. They tasted so good together I couldn’t get enough! The beans have a smokey flavor of their own and it is devine! Lastly, we enjoyed the banana pudding. On our way home we could smell it in it’s closed container and it smelt just like banana pie and it didn’t disappoint, it tasted like pie too! It had a crumble on top that made it perfectly delicious! Needless to say, we will be having more meals as Dan and Deb continue this food adventure. The Brisket sandwich was delicious with the coleslaw and homemade BBQ sauce! The Mac & Cheese was also amazing! Very creamy and cheesy! The owners are so friendly and very speedy with getting your food out to you.

I’m so thankful to have Taste of the South here in our small town. Dan & Debbie go above and beyond with their BBQ truck and you’ll get nothing but top tier and the best of the best when it comes to the food they serve. Their Mac-Bowl is my personal favorite but there’s no bad options and you won’t go wrong with anything you pick to eat from there. Highly recommend to anyone and everyone who’s looking for an awesome meal and great service from Dan & Debbie

We came into Heppner on Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, and it was pretty quiet. This truck was the only place open to get food, and we were not at all disappointed! Brisket was great, loved the pickled onions, and good coleslaw too. Love that this little food truck court has a bathroom and hand sink.

It’s hard to believe that this huge flavor can come from such a small food truck. The bark on that brisket is so crunchy juxtaposed with the soft delectable meat that just melts in your mouth. I had the baked beans and slaw with my meal. The big pieces of bacon and the sweet flavor of the beans complimented each other so nicely. The slaw was fresh. Crunchy strips of cabbage, and soaked, not drowning, in dressing. Not to mention the cup of pickled jalapeño and onion that comes complimentary with each meal. Great experience and an even better meal.
