I’ve been a regular customer here for a long time, but unfortunately this visit was extremely disappointing.

We first ordered a plate of idli, and it was quite hard. When we mentioned this to the server, we were told that the idlis were steamed the previous night and that idli is usually prepared once every two days. That in itself was shocking. Next, we ordered Prawn 65, which arrived half-cooked—the outer layer was crispy, but the inside was raw with uncooked masala. We asked the server again, and they offered to replace it. At this point, we cancelled both the idli and the prawn.

But the most unbelievable part came next. I’ve been eating chicken for 30 years, and I never knew “red meat chicken” existed. I ordered Chicken Seeraga Samba Biryani, and the chicken inside was undercooked and visibly reddish. When I raised this concern, the server confidently claimed it was “red meat chicken.” If such a thing actually exists, I would genuinely like someone to educate me.

Note to the owner:
After facing all these issues, I asked the server if I could speak with you, but you did not take a moment to address my concerns. If you say these incidents didn’t happen, I am prepared to escalate this to the food inspection authorities. If you are genuinely unaware of what happened, please review your CCTV footage between 7:30 PM and 8:00 PM on the day of my visit. Instead of defending or denying, please acknowledge the mistake and correct it. The food here used to be very good, and as a regular customer, I truly hope you focus on restoring your quality rather than dismissing genuine feedback.

Chicken Kothu Parotta – Top notch! Highly recommended.

Dindigul Mutton Biryani – Sorry, it doesn’t taste like authentic Dindigul masala biryani. The flavor is okay and decent, but not like dindigal briyani. Please improve — honest feedback.

Parotta and Mutton Salna – Very good when eaten hot. The mutton salna is flavorful and the sauce is excellent.

Akka service is too good.

Today I had chicken fried rice at Taste of Tamil Nadu, and it was very tasty. The quantity was worth the money and quite satisfying. They also have a lot of options for dosas and biriyanis. I would definitely recommend everyone to try Taste of Tamil Nadu.

Just go in for the food.
This place is a little tucked away with a bit of a weird aesthetic inside, but don’t let that fool you—you get some of the best and most crispy dosas ever here.
Our order:
Podi Masala Dosa: Very spicy and the absolute best.
Spring Dosa: Very good, highly recommended.
Paper Masala Dosa: Average; I’d stick with the first two.

One of the softest idlis I have had in long time. Good variety of side chutneys and sambhar. Podi masala dosa and uttapam also tasted good. Best filter coffee.

Service could be better, as restaurant seems to be understaffed during peak hours causing longer wait time.

WARNING! This is not a 5 star review, but for a niche audience who enjoy spicy food, this place is gold. The food is good enough that an unkept premise and mediocre service can be overlooked. The chutneys with the dosa’s and idly were so so, but the quality of idly and dosa was fantastic. The sambhar was so spicy, that it opened up my congested nose and throat. This place is not recommended for people with low spice tolerance.

Taste of Tamil Nadu has the best food I have ever tasted in my life. My husband is from Chennai, India and he says their food tastes just like home. The owners are such lovely people and their staff are always so kind to us and provide excellent customer service. We order take out from here weekly and it is truly one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to in my life. Please try the food, you won’t regret it! Thank you TOT ❤️

Great food, horrible service — extremely disappointing experience!!!

We visited the restaurant on a busy Saturday night, excited to try their much-talked-about South Indian food. To be fair, the food was absolutely delicious — authentic flavors, fresh ingredients, and truly some of the best dosas we’ve had.

Unfortunately, the dining experience was completely ruined by the terrible service. Despite the restaurant being packed, there was only one server trying to manage everything. The server was extremely rude, unprofessional, and showed no basic courtesy. We waited over 90 minutes for our food, and during that entire time, there was no communication or apology for the delay.

To make things worse, when we raised the issue, the manager was completely indifferent. Instead of apologizing, they showed attitude and were ignorant — no accountability at all for the poor experience.

While the kitchen deserves 5 stars for the food, the service and management deserve 0. It’s shocking how little they care about customer experience.

Sadly, unless they drastically improve their service and attitude, I cannot recommend dining in. If you really want to enjoy their food, maybe consider takeout — but be prepared for a long wait even then.

Food is nice, but not fantastic. Service is inadequate

Motton curry taste good, we ordered two
The staff ask do we want ice cream on Mango shake, however we don’t see any ice cream.

It isn’t even a busy day, just 4-5 desk of customers, but it took them 10 mins to come and order food. Also we have to go out to pay, so don’t expect much service. Still, no tax for cash 🙂

Disappointing Experience with the Egg Biryani.
We are frequent, loyal customers and usually enjoy the South Indian offerings at Taste of Tamil Nadu. However, our latest visit was extremely disappointing and has made us reconsider returning.
We ordered the Egg Biryani (priced at $15), and it was nothing like a true biryani. It tasted like simple fried rice and contained only a single egg. Given the price, we immediately questioned the server about the portion and the dish’s content.
The server’s response was incredibly poor. She simply stated, “we always only give this much” and offered no apology, no acknowledgment of our concern, and made no effort to correct the situation or take the dish back. Despite telling her this was the worst experience we’ve had at the restaurant, she just stood there and refused to change the dish for anything else.
We were charged the full, in our opinion, unreasonable price of $15 for what amounted to a container of fried rice with one egg. We ended up having to pack the dish to take it home.
This lack of customer service and the unacceptable quality of the Egg Biryani—especially for such a high price—was a very poor experience and a terrible way to treat regular customers. I hope the restaurant addresses the quality of this specific dish and trains its staff on how to handle customer feedback better.
