Food came out PIPING HOT! Fried chicken was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Green beans were delicious. Corn nice & buttery. Fried okra was fantastic. For dessert we had Oreo chocolate cake, Italian wedding cake & carrot cake. All were tasty!

Ken and I fed our souls this week with some of the best food outside of his mamma’s cooking.
And the owners treat us like family!
Taste of Soul in DeLand is a family-owned, fast-casual restaurant specializing in traditional Southern soul food, including highly-praised items like fried chicken, mac & cheese, and oxtails.
Founded by Corey and Yvette Williams, the restaurant aims to create a family-oriented atmosphere with authentic, flavorful dishes passed down through generations and excellent customer service.
Ken loves the fried chicken, of course, but often gets the shrimp. $13 for the biggest shrimp, fries, and slaw.
Me? I get something different every time. Sometimes the 11-dollar fried chicken dinner, other times the 8-dollar vegetable-only meal, but this night was the $13 smothered pork chops, and you know the gravy is the bomb!
We spent less than 30 bucks and even had enough to take home for later!
Win-win!

We’ve been to Taste of Soul twice now and it’s officially one of our favorite spots! The first time we had the ribs and catfish nuggets—both were packed with flavor and cooked just right. On our second visit, we tried the fried chicken and fried shrimp, and they were absolutely delicious—crispy, juicy, and full of that true Southern soul. Everything tastes homemade and the staff is always so friendly. If you’re looking for real comfort food, this is the place to go!

Enjoyed our visit here! They made us feel comfortable, talked to us about the food and what to order. We basically ordered the entire menu as we were hungry. And it did not disappoint. The fried chicken, pork chops and fried shrimp were our favorites!

Great, hot and fresh ! Good homemade soul food! Pricing is very affordable. I don’t mind 40 minute drive for some good eats! doesn’t disappoint and the Party punch they need to sale by the bottle or gallon !!

First timer here and I’m telling you GO get you some of this amazing soul food. You can tell as soon as you walk in that the food is going to be great, the atmosphere is very warm and welcoming. I got the fried chicken special and everything was fresh and seasoned perfectly. I am so glad we stopped in and we will definitely be back asap. More people need to come in here and show some love because this was a 5 star experience.

Ordered Turkey Wings with 2 Sides, Mac and Cheese & Collard Greens paid a tad bit under $20.00. It’s quite Unfortunate for me that I had such a built up craving for this meal and received an ENORMOUS DISAPPOINTMENT .
Every COMPONENT of this Meal was BLAND, BLAND, BLAND!
*Turkey Wings tasted Stale, Freezer Burnt just AWFUL!
*Mac and Cheese, extremely DRY!
*Collard Greens fell right in line with the Lack of Seasoning and Flavor.
I would like to note that I ate at this restaurant previously and it has been about a tad bit over 2 years I haven’t eaten there.
Previously the Food was Awesome , Fresh and on Point. Even the atmosphere has changed.
Enclosing highly disappointed.

I honestly can’t say enough good things about this delicious soul food restaurant! I have been several times over the past month, and my meal has impressed me every time!
Highlights: Epic oxtails (huge, tender, meaty), super cheesy baked mac & cheese, some of the best potato salad I’ve ever had, fork tender delicious smothered pork chops, amazing chicken livers!
Lowlight: The cornbread is a bit dry/crumbly for my tastes, but it still tastes good.
