Super cute little place. We came in an hour til close. I wasnt sure if we seat ourselves. There was 4 girls rolling silverware who didnt acknowledge us. A young girl did and sat us. We were waited on by a lady (forgive me, I didnt catch her name) with short hair who seemed new (as she read the specials from a notebook) she was nice. She did refill our drinks. She didnt ask how we liked it, which was odd. We made sure to leave about 15 minutes before close. Salmon was ok. Green beans phenomonal. Mashed potatoes were decent. I did snag a fry from my daughter and those were good too.

Busy joint on a Saturday night for good reason! Didn’t have to wait long for a table, though. Excellent food and service in a charming venue. Country ham biscuits are a must-try – fantastic country ham on delicious sweet potato biscuits! Apple Blossom and Autumn Paradise cocktails were both fun seasonal offerings, well-balanced, light, and refreshing. Pork wings savory and delicious, and apple and goat BLT salad a massive portion and big winner, especially rum-infused apple pieces!

We stopped at this charming busy restaurant on our way back home. Devante, our server, was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious! The collard greens have a hidden spicy kick. All the employees were cheerful and helpful, including the hard-working cooks. We highly recommend you try this place if you are in the area. Thanks, Taste of Smithfield.

First thing first…The food was good, hot, and fresh! The service was nice and you can tell all the people were being treated well. I had a hamburger and sidewinder fries which were GREAT as a fry lover. There wasn’t a ton of parking which I’m sure is a problem in a small town like Smithfield Va. Overall the place was clean small, and a everyone knows everyone kinda place. Had a small bar for mixed drinks and a small store section with a variety of Smithfield favorites like ham, peanuts, jams to name a few. Looks like the sidewinder fries may be the best fries on that side of town! LoL

The last time I was here it still had a general store. They have renovated and updated the place. The old school classic dinner feel is gone but the place is still great. Food is still good and they have a huge upgraded cocktail and wine list. I will definitely eat here when I am in town.

When we first walked in we were greeted by I think a manager/ owner. He was very nice and welcoming. Our server was very witty but did not make sure our order was right. Someone else brought our food out which I know a lot of places do it but it makes it easier to not get what you ordered . I ordered a wedge salad without tomatoes ,french fries and a cup of soup. It came out with a lot of tomatoes on it. Also a ton of dressing and bacon. The soup looked beautiful but it was cold. My fries never came out so I just asked that they make sure it wasn’t on the bill. My husband ordered a sandwich that had fried bologna on it. You could barely tell it was even fried. His sandwich came with fries. I did get to try one of his fries. They were soooo good. We also got margaritas. Those were good as well.

My wife and I will definitely return to try more of the menu! We had the sweet potato biscuits and the cheese steak. Both are highly recommended! The service was great, and it was fun to sit outside and eat while doing some people watching.

Wow! Excellent restaurant! The food was delicious. They put their own unique twist on things which turns out fabulously. The pigtails are french fries that are twisted in a curl, very fun. Not to mention the booming flavor! Yum! I really enjoyed the ham biscuits. You need to like molasses to enjoy the ham biscuits. But, it’s the perfect topping for biscuits. Took me back in time to eating molasses covered biscuits with my deeply southern grandfather. The children’s bbq sandwich was also delicious. Smokey and sweet bbq chopped nice and fine, perfect for little ones. The green beans too blew my mind! Thin with just the tiniest crunch, sautéed to perfection. The atmosphere has a vintage vibe, quite a beautiful mix of modern and vintage, complete with a tiny store of meats, sweets, and do dad’s, as well as an open kitchen concept. The manager and staff were wonderful, attentive, knowledgeable, and accommodating to my 23 month old baby. Overall this is one of the best restaurants that I have been to in the last year! That is saying a lot because I eat out frequently and I live in one of the country’s foodie capitals, Charleston, SC.
