Best Shrimp and Grits I’ve ever tasted! Wonderful mild flavor, and has a smooth shrimp sauce. Not just cheese in grits. Was so looking forward to stopping here again, but google says they are closed on Sunday. Last time we tried the smothered beef fries! Shocking to me that tender shredded pot roast and gravy over fries was an awesome appetizer. Then old fashioned scooped icecream parlor for deserts….

The gumbo was delicious. Normally I wouldn’t say anything is better than my mom’s but this one made it hard to choose. I only had a cup and wish I had gotten a bowl. Even the kids hamburgers were seasoned very well. It’s a little higher than I expected but definitely warrants a second trip.

Wow! Have eaten here several times and am always impressed. Chef Juan does an amazing job and raises the bar everytime. Everything is good and the atmosphere is amazing. Dine with a gator or a bear and finish it with a 1950’s ice cream parlor dessert. A must try and you will become a regular like me.

The chef needs to close this restaurant, think about working somewhere to learn what quality ingredients and proper preparation can do to the outcome. I was served Brown Salt soup with a tiny brine shrimp and a sliver of some unknown sausage and charged for a Gumbo. The 40-60 count popcorn shrimp was a surprise when it arrived, a shrimp platter normally announces popcorn. Avoid at all costs. Please close soon.

Im glad my co-workers introduced me to this place. We now go 1-2 times a week for lunch. I actually doubled up and went tonight as well. Nice place that’s relaxed and kid friendly. Friendly staff. Big selection of ice cream and a salad bar.

This was the second time I’d been here, and the first time since they had changed the name (formerly Frenchy’s [?]). The place is always so empty and a bit lifeless. The decor is verging on disturbing… Fine for a sporting goods store, but weird while I’m eating. The salad bar was stocked, neat and fresh. But, no blue cheese dressing– bummer. I had the fried oyster platter, as the authentic New Orleans bread they use for the poboys tends to be on the hard side. The coleslaw was rather bland, but I couldn’t figure out why. It looooked like coleslaw, but tasted like nothing. Great selection of desert items. And if you like them on Facebook, they’ll give you a free scoop of ice cream! I know this isn’t usually a deterring situation, but the food came out SO fast. We didn’t even have to start eating our salads before the entrees were served. The portion sizes were okay.

I had the Shrimp Tacos that was a lunch special. It was overloaded with shrimp and drizzled with a great sauce. If you haven’t tried Taste of New Orleans by Chef Juan I highly recommend you do so!

Excellent New Orleans cuisine, specialty burgers, flaky fish, sauces, etc everything you can get out of town, without the drive. Chef Juan is amazing, and so is his menu, staff, and flavors. 10 stars. Don’t forget to have the homemade beignets! MMMMMmmmmmm
