We thoroughly enjoyed A Taste of India, an intimate storefront restaurant located a few minutes from downtown Providence. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the food delicious and authentic, and the dining area filled with tables that are perfect for groups of 2 – 4 (but can be combined for larger groups).
We found the garlic naan to be hot, fresh, and delicious. And the two entrees that we ordered and shared (lamb and eggplant) to be flavorfully spiced and consistent with the level of heat that we requested.
The large windows allow plenty of light and views of the neighborhood, making you feel as though you are a part of the vibrant scene and life of the neighborhood.
We look forward to visiting again the next time we are in town.

Just don’t come here. I had the lunch special chicken tiki masala and the portion size is an absolute joke. I literally had about 3 chicken cubes in my plate lol. For $13.95 that’s an absolute joke.

Garlic naan was amazing but that was it. Server spoke very little English and had to get someone else to answer a question about a dish when ordering. The other person was very polite. Service was slow and we were never offered more drinks and had to wait about 15 mins to ask for the check with only 2 other tables inside. Ordered an appetizer sampler with 5 fried items but it didn’t come with any sauces? Chicken looked great but texture tasted undercooked. Food did seem authentic.

Very good restaurant, I definitely prefer it to other local Indian restaurants. The garlic naan, chicken tikka masala, and saag paneer is my favorite order. Mango lassis are also delicious!

Food and service were excellent! This was our first time trying Indian food, and our experience couldn’t have been better. The waiter kindly took the time to explain the menu and, based on our preferences, offered thoughtful recommendations. We truly enjoyed everything and look forward to coming back!

Went for their Saturday lunch buffet. Although the quantity of dishes to offer was a little narrow, the quality and taste of all dishes were right on the money. Their spinach curry and tandoori chicken were both excellent, the butter chicken as well. Cute place, friendly staff, delicious Indian cuisine, recommended.

What a great Indian Resturant! We went super hungry they were about to close not only they accommodated us by gave us fresh warm food with very welcoming atmosphere. I was impressed with flavors and preparations. Simple aloo parantha was so special. What a great experience! Highly recommend it…

Great apps and bread.

The cold Samosa Chaat appetizer was so good. ($8.95). The sauce was so tasty and their samosas were creamy under a bed of that sauce and chickpeas.

Their Vegetable Samosa app ($6.95) comes with two large, warm and creamy pieces. I also tried for the first time, Traditional Alu Parantha ($5.50). It’s whole wheat bread filled with I believe Samosa filling and griddled with what tasted like ghee. Amazing!!

Much better portions then their lunch menu. Last time I got their Chicken Korma lunch special and the amount of chicken they gave was disappointing. I got 3 regular sized cubes of chicken.

This place is an absolute joke. They served stale food, paneer tikka gravy was ketchup added with lot of sugar. Malai Kofta was stale too. Please avoid this place at all costs.

Average food, staff lacks interest. not allergy aware, told me they could not guarantee specific ingredient will not be in my food (lemon juice). when asked for a piece of onion, informed me it will cost $2.25 for “Indian salad”. I have never ever been charged extra for a piece of onion in any Indian restaurant before this.
