It’s the best General Tso’s chicken we’ve had anywhere and the recipe is consistent (other than the heat can vary a little.) That is the dish pictured. Normally it comes with broccoli but we chose to not have it. I have also ordered Gen Tso’s chicken with unbreaded chicken when I don’t want the breading. They make it for me – I have to order “Chicken Broccoli with Gen Tso sauce (and skip the veggies for me.)” When getting food for the whole family we generally order the small size and get several dishes – we like the Gen Tso chicken, sesame chicken, chicken broccoli and Mongolian beef. Plain or fried rice depending on the mood. They also make crab Rangoon that isn’t all onion flavor and good spring rolls.
I put a 4 down for atmosphere only because it’s small, 8 tables or 4 each and the walls have seen better days. We aren’t here for the ambiance. Just the food and most time we get it to go.
I love to watch them cook the dishes in their large woks while waiting on our to-go order. The staff is always nice.
They didn’t skimp on the shrimp and the rice had a little flavor but I had to take it home to doctor it up so it wouldn’t be a waste of money.
This was my first time there; I was greeted but I had to ask for sweet and sour sauce and find the soy sauce and utensils myself.
This location has rude staff, IF YOU’RE BLACK! They also have roaches as I saw a few crawl across their kitchen area while I was ordering. I immediately left and don’t plan on returning. Wish I could’ve taken my phone out quick enough for photos. The food I’ve had there in the past has also been hit or miss. If you can’t stand at the register to order & instruct them how to prepare your food. 9/10 it will be bland and full of nutrients from insects.
The lunch special portions were generous, but the sauce was very bland and the pork had been over-battered, resulting in a gooey unpleasant texture. The rice used in the fried rice had an extremely dry, crunchy texture that was hard to chew, though palatable if reheated in a microwave with a generous tablespoon of water to re-steam.
The soup was worse – so much cornstarch had been added that it was only describable as “extremely gloopy” when hot, and actually could almost stand on its own in the bowl when cold, like a gelatin. The pieces of carrots had brown along the sides, as though they had not been peeled and were only cursorily washed. A friend who got the seafood soup reported the same texture issue, with the amount of cornstarch making the soup practically inedible for her. I tried to salvage the ingredients within by washing off the caked-on broth goo and replacing most of it with a strait broth, but that just resulted in globby pieces of starch floating around in it.
These are kind people, but I feel I wasted roughly $15 of the $20 I spent there on this trip. I probably would not recommend returning.
