I live in Slidell, La. And me and my husband are always ordering take out from Taste of China. I realized I never leave a review. Let me explain. This place always have a nice crowd of people when I pull up. The workers here are always welcoming and kind. On 01-01-2025, we drove up to the parking lot of Taste of China. I decided I was going to place an order. I called the phone of the restaurant and a lady (name unknown), answered to take my order. I was a little distraught after having an argument with my husband. I couldn’t even think about what I usually order. But the lady (name unknown) on the phone was so polite, patient, and kind helped me to choose my order. I ordered a chicken wing plate, with shrimp fried rice, and and an egg roll. I also ordered a side of Crab Ragoons. Well I asked if I can get my rice without the peas end carrots, and just add fried eggs and scallops. I know she must have thought why would I want scallops in my rice? I really meant to say I wanted scallions and fried eggs added to my shrimp fried rice. Again my head wasn’t on straight. But she explained there were 3 wings that came with the order. And the egg rolls came two for the price. It was perfect for me. She totaled my price to $26 and some cents. I first thought I was paying too much but I forgot I ordered the Crab Rangoons for another $6. My husband didn’t place an order, he was in his feelings. He went in to pay for my order. When I got home the plate was so hot, steam was coming from it. And it was a little chilly outside. I opened the top and once I started eating the rice, it was all over. The rice had big shrimps in it, flavored very well, and lots of egg. The chicken wings are jumbo wings, fried nice and crispy, and the right amount of seasoning. The crab Ragoons are my favorite. They were nice and hot not too crispy and hard on the ends like some places fry them. The cream cheese had the right amount of pineapple in it. They were perfectly cooked like I love to eat them. The food here is the best. We never go wrong or complain when we order here. I took the pics after I thought about leaving a review. Half my food was already gone. I’m going to continue to order from here. Thank you for a great experience every time we place an order at Taste of China.

A frequent go-to for our busy family. The food is always fresh & tasty the staff is kind and helpful, and the serving sizes are very generous. We usually can get 2 meals out of one order. It looks like a family business too, and we appreciate that.

No idea how they have managed to get 4,4 stars rating.
I ordered the General Tao’s chicken, it tasted terrible. First of all even though I did order it for dine in, I got a plastic container. The food was extremely hot, it may be achieved only if you microwave the container. Second, really small portion, the amount of chicken was insultingly skimpy. The 2/3 of those dough nut have no chicken at all, the rest had small bits smaller than a chick pea. I think there was less than 2 oz. of chicken. And the third, everything tasted awful. Even though I was super hungry (came at lunch, did not have breakfast and skipped the dinner the day before), I could not finish it.
What a waste of time and money !

I generally love and tell everyone about this place but today the Mandarin “Chicken” was off! It was basically fried breading undercooked on the inside with “chicken” meat particles. This is generally a fried slice of chicken breast not some mystery breaded meat. Disappointing to say the least. I hope this is not going be what you continue to serve and this is a one off.

I had a less-than-stellar experience at Taste of China in Slidell a while back, but with my usual spot now closed, I decided to give them another try. I’m incredibly glad I did! It’s clear they’ve made some significant improvements, and the food is now absolutely wonderful.
From the perfectly cooked fried rice to the exceptionally fresh boneless spare ribs, everything I ordered was delicious. I’ve often found that the way they smoke their ribs can lead to dryness, but they’ve clearly mastered the technique. The ribs were juicy and flavorful.
It’s exciting to have Taste of China as a reliable option for both lunch and dinner. If you’re looking for fantastic takeout in Slidell, I highly recommend giving them a try. They’ve definitely won me over!

But today, while waiting for a to go order, one of the kids was sitting in the dining room hacking up a lung. Someone in the kitchen sounded sick as well. Now they’re yelling back and forth between the kitchen and dining room. Not sure if I’m still hungry at this point.
