Visited on Memorial day, place was not busy mid afternoon. Food was excellent and arrived hot and quickly. Service was also excellent. Not a luxury enviroment but perfectly comfortable. prices are right in line with any other place , good value since the quality was excellent.

The server, Desiree, was waiting on the entire, while small, dining area. She was attentive to all tables but had to run around to do so. We could not find any pork in the pork fried rice. I liked the egg roll, my companion didn’t. We both had chow mein. We both enjoyed it. I had chicken, she had shrimp and there were many shrimp. The pile of dirt lay just behind where I was seated the entire time we were there. It was swept up after I took the picture. LOL. We dropped something and when we tried to find it, that’s when I saw the filth under the booth, especially the baseboard. The worst was the loud, hard rock radio station. I love hard rock but it was headbanging horrible. They turned it down when we asked. The other employee, Kelly, took care of to go orders. Her cell phone went off twice, very loudly. She was putting clean plates on the buffet, which by the way, was NOT all day, like the sign says. We were SO disappointed. Anyway, she went thru the whole stack, some to her left, some to her right, and didn’t care that it was so loud. She apologized but geez, do those things in the kitchen. She did this two separate times. The booth behind us, at the front of the restaurant, was someone’s office. I suggest they move this crap to a booth behind the wall so every customer doesn’t see your invoices, receipts, and banking paperwork. The tub of change on the counter… not tips. There’s no sign to say if it’s for charity or whatever but the employees do not get any of this money. They used to, but not since the new owners took over earlier this year. So…. do the owners keep this money??

Taste of China is by far the best Chinese restaurant I have ever ordered from or eaten at. I traveled for a living, and I have eaten at a lot of Chinese restaurants, it doesn’t get any better than taste of China.
Service is prompt and friendly, the portions are generous, and the quality of the food is outstanding. This restaurant is my top go-to in Houlton when we need a quick meal.
The only thing…. Please bring back the buffet!
Thank you, Taste of China!

I ordered the 15b and the rice with dry couldn’t even eat it. My wife ordered 39 and said it tastes horrible.

Salad shrimp in an entree with about 6 of them in the dish. Ordered beef w/ peppers and onions and there were literally 5 strips of beef and then a whole onion and bell pepper. Not worth the price for the quality and the amount of protein. Taste was not amazing either. Pretty awful place. How they have anything above 2 stars is beyond me. Just go to McDonald’s. At least it will be affordable disappointment for dinner.

Really nice place, comfortable to dine in or take out! General THOSE had good taste but way too much soupy sauce and egg roll smelled burnt or had weird after taste. Had Szechuan Beef with a Shrimp role this 2nd time for take out. Both were really good!!! Both times the staff was exceptional friendly and attentive. Not much to recommend in Houlton but for Chinese, im coming here. 4 Stars.

The buffet is still the way to go, one of the only good restaurants in houlton for the price you paid and the convenience.

How this place had anything above 2 stars is beyond me. If you’re looking for the arm pit of Northern Maine, you found it. 20 minutes was what we were told, 1 hour and twenty minutes later, after standing in line in an absolutely disgusting hallway, full of cobwebs and dirt, we finally got our “food”. Do yourself a HUGE favor, go to Walmart, buy frozen Chinese, and microwave it. It’s about 20 times better and less greasy. You also won’t have to burn your clothes from the rancid odor it absorbed from the stench in the building.
