Unfortunately a disappointing experience, since I liked the older restaurant here.
The green beans had pretty good flavor but weren’t crunchy at all. The pepper beef wasn’t too great as the texture of the meat was completely off and the sauce was too sweet.
We also had a half Peking Duck, which was the biggest let down. The duck was very dry and tough. They definitely gave us an older leftover duck. However, the vegetables were fine and the sauce helped a little bit.

Total disappointment. The service is fine, the food, however, was not. We have ordered Mao’s braised pork (pictured) and received dry, flavorless pieces of pork belly in sad sauce that didn’t have any flavor. The eggplant in garlic sauce was good and very flavorful, but I have a suspicion that the sauce flavor comes from a prepackaged dry sauce mix. Overall, sad and disappointing experience.

Good food but truly awful stinky men’s restroom. Great selection offered.
Need to truly pay attention to the smell of the restroom. With such bad smell and I’m concern about the hygiene of the kitchen area not seen by the public.

As a Sichuanese person who grew up surrounded by bold, spicy, and deeply flavorful cuisine– Zhangs Bistro exceeded my expectations. From the very first bite, the flavors brought me straight back to my hometown. The dishes were incredibly authentic that only true Sichuan cooking can deliver. If you love spicy cuisines this is THE place for you. If you can’t handle the spices, their menu also have other great alternative options that are equally just as good all with reasonable prices. Definitely check out this hidden gem right around the corner of the plaza.
The service was equally outstanding. It’s a small owned family restaurant– Mr. and Mrs. Zhang along with their staff members were incredibly hospitable. As for the dining experiences, the restaurant beautifully captures the feeling of an old, traditional Sichuan family-owned eatery, with warm interior design that feels very nolstagic. It is a very cozy and welcoming enviromnent where you can comfortably sit back and enjoy great conversation with friends and family gatherings.
Personally, when I have a busy day and have cravings for their food, I would order it for take out. If you choose the option for take out especially some of their authentic dishes, it WILL take a little longer to prepare, but that’s because they are cooked properly and traditionally– real Sichuanese food simply can’t be rushed. So, in the end, the wait time is never an issue since I decided to always call ahead to place my order and pick it up myself. If they take the time to cook their cuisines, I know for sure Zhangs Bistro doesn’t cut corners in preparing their fresh ingredients into preparing a genuine Sichuan cuisine done right. Highly recommended~
Keep it up Mr. & Mrs. Zhang and all the staff members! Will always be back!

I’ve been eating from here for a few years now and while it’s had its ups and downs, I think things are back on the upswing. Incredibly spicy and delicious dry pot and chongqing chicken. And friendly and quick service.

Good place to have taste of sichuan without drivng all the way to north dallas. The taste is pretty close. The twice cooked pork had a nice smoky flavor. The mapo tofu had the right sauce consistency and the tofu did not lose the shape. Chonqking chicken was extermely fresh and crunchy coming from the hot oil and it was delightful to eat. Would go really well with a beer. The beef with pickeld vegetables was a surprise, given the amount of tender beef slices that came with it. Still kinda mad I had to pay for the bowl of rice.
Came back a second time to get the special fish. It was expensive (anything market price is ) except when did tilapia become a luxury market price item.. Anyways for almost 40$, it was a disappointment. Fish was small and had very little meat on it. The texture was kinda off, a little mushy but it didnt taste fishy at least
Place has rebranded. Its now Zhangs Bistro, still serving Sichuan fare. Unsure if new ownership but menu is different

I had an exceptional dining experience at this restaurant! The staff were friendly, attentive, and ensured that every detail of our meal was perfect. The highlight of our meal was the Green Pepper Spicy Fish — a must-try for anyone who enjoys bold flavors and a little heat! The fish was cooked to perfection, tender and fresh, complemented by the perfect balance of spice and the aromatic green peppers. It was absolutely delicious! If you’re looking for an authentic, flavorful experience, this is the place to go. Highly recommend!

I wanted to flame this place for taking 2 hours for my food on Christmas Day after telling me I could pick it up in 30 minutes, but unfortunately I waited and tasted what i had ordered. If you are a fan of American style Chinese food you will be disappointed. But if you like spicy, flavorful, freshly made food this is your place. The egg roll and crab rangoons were meh. The goat dry bowl I savored over 3 days just to enjoy it more. Pineapple shrimp rice was made with fresh pineapple. The glutinous rice was a perfect way to end the meal. I will be returning to dine in person and will know for the future to double the time given for take out orders.

Ate here several times – I get the dry fried green beans and mapo tofu every time, they’re so good!

Unfortunately this place has gone downhill. Service was ridiculously slow on a week night – it took 40 minutes to get our food. We ordered two items, cumin lamb and dry green beans. The beans were undercooked and the lamb was way too salty. We will not be back.
