Taste of Belgium – The Banks

  4.5 – 2 reviews  $$ • Belgian restaurant

Taste of Belgium is a restaurant group of Belgian-inspired eateries. We take traditional Belgian recipes and we twist them; we take American classics and we Belgianize them. We believe elegant cuisine can be served with a down-to-earth attitude and humble foods can be served elegantly. We take the food we create and the service we provide very seriously, but not ourselves. Waffles, Chicken, Beer. Eat Like a Belgian, Drink Like a Belgian, Live Like a Belgian!

Omelettes, waffles & crepes are the specialties of this local, Belgian-influenced cafe chain.

I had the biscuit and gravy with chicken & it was delicious. The dish is also very heavy so be ready for a nap after you enjoy it. The server was very nice, efficient and helpful. For some reason dining here just doesn’t feel quite like that ‘5 star experience’. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good breakfast but this place wouldn’t make it in my dining out routine.

Food was fair. Nothing to rave about. Be aware…a Belgian waffle is very small and well done. Not the size of an American waffle. Cool atmosphere right on the Banks in OTR. And they have a patio too.

Sat out on the patio on a beautiful spring afternoon. First time trying goetta and it was good! Had the goetta hash. Hubby and daughter each got waffles and crepes. They were raving about them, so I’m guessing they were excellent. We did a couple of beer flights, which is always fun. I really liked the sour choices. We were able to bring our dog to dine with us on the patio. Good service as well. Was a wonderful experience.

We are here while visiting Cincinnati and it was good but not my favorite. Wife got the s’more waffle and really liked it. Daughter just got a couple of plain waffles and they were okay. I did the “open face” egg sandwich with bacon and it was average. I expected more personally for the price.

This restaurant was a great spot to enjoy the view of the river while having a great meal and enjoying good drinks with friends, families, or fur babies.

I felt like I transported to a different country at this restaurant! The aesthetic and layout of this restaurant was beautiful. They had forks as the door handles! The mimosas were so good and paired perfectly with the chicken and waffles. This place might have had the best crusted chicken I’ve ever tasted – it was so well seasoned and each bite was filled with flavor. We ordered a side of frittes on the side (fries) and it was served with chipotle mayo which was SO GOOD. Dip the chicken in that sauce and you send your soul to heaven !!!!!

The food was absolutely delicious. Some ingredients were forgotten when the food came out and a glass was sticky. Those just seem like things a server should check prior to putting things on the table. I also ordered a mocha. I don’t think it was well mixed. I ended up with thick syrup at the bottom.

My wife and I went to Cincinnati for a baseball game on Friday night and decided to walk to a place near the stadium. We randomly picked this restaurant not expecting very much. We have been so disappointed with eating out the last 3 years that we almost wish that we did not need do do so. But, wow, were we surprised! We had two wonderful waitresses and the food was just as good. I had a steak and salad, I am diabetic so waffles are out. I had recently taken my wife out to a high-end, national chain restaurant, and this steak was better. My wife also thoroughly enjoyed her meal. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the area.

The eggs were perfect… the bacon was delicious, but had weird black edges… the fruit bowl they substituted for the potatoes was great! I guess I just don’t like Belgian waffles after all. Also, sadly, I didn’t check to see what was going on downtown that day, so we had to deal with ball game traffic and Cincinnati Music Festival, right outside the the open doors (drummers). And no parking anywhere nearby. But the restaurant itself was great, as was our server, who was also the bartender. So glad we had a reservation, and we got seated right away!
