We enjoyed our lunch at Taste Cafe in Half Moon Bay today. The service was friendly and welcoming. My macaroni and cheese with ham was delicious! A nice combination of creamy cheeses with a nice baked crust on top.

Pretty traditional breakfast place- not a lot of bells and whistles here. We enjoyed everything we had, but it’s not our favorite breakfast spot in HMB. Service was quick and food came out super fast! Biscuits and gravy are good- really like the gravy but the biscuits were almost too fluffy and did not absorb gravy well, we wanted them a bit crispier. We would come back- especially to try the mimosas they have some fun looking flights and lots of coffee options!

I highly recommend the green chilaquiles. Very good. One thing i didn’t like is people brought there dogs into the restaurant that were not service dogs. I didn’t like that very much. There should be rules about that. Can’t enjoy your meal with dogs barking. So we cut our meal short and left with to go boxes.

We took a drive up the coast and stopped off here to get some breakfast. The food was good and the service was excellent. The place was packed and there was a 10 minutes wait to be seated. We ordered the eggs and bacon, and the meat omelet. Both were really good and so was the coffee. Nothing extremely exciting about the food, pretty standard breakfast. One thing they do not have is steak and eggs. I thought every breakfast place had steak and eggs, but I guess not. If in the area, we would probably come back here.

Today was our third visit to Taste Cafe in Half Moon bay. Another great experience. The waiter was prompt and friendly. The food was freshly prepared and delicious. Oh and the coffee some of the best restaurant coffee I have had. If you’re looking for a place to grab some breakfast while you’re in the area we highly recommend Taste Cafe. They do good business so there is a brief wait at times…especially on weekend mornings. They get you in and seated pretty quickly.

This is a mediocre place for an “everyday” kind of breakfast- no creativity. They do offer cafe style coffee with very limited milk options, fat free is out. If you would like to get a fat free option outside, which they don’t offer, they refuse service, saying they are responsible for the food they serve inside the restaurant. And there was a guy sitting right next to my table with his own cup. I even offered to buy a drip coffee from them to use their cup. Very unreasonable. Lattes are a normal breakfast item which should be offered fat free. Considering how expensive $$ it is to eat here, there should be more creativity with food, fat free options (for those of us which do not have a gallbladder and can not process fat!), and more reasonable accommodation.

Seeing as the line waiting outside Sam’s was 1/4 mile long, we looked for an alternative nearby and were happy to find Taste Cafe.

It’s hard to find but well worth it. The locals certainly know about it – the place was busy, including the dining room in back. Service was charming. The menu has a lot of interesting options covering the meal spectrum. I went for Mac-n-Cheese with pork sausage, and it was comfort food at its best. My partner had Eggs Benedict, and the eggs came cooked medium as requested, so she loved them. A new HMB favorite for us!

If you don’t eat here you have missed out on an AMAZING breakfast experience. There are no words on how delicious the food was, the service was over the top (in the best way) and the place was clean (including the bathrooms).
I have food allergies and asked the server if he knew what brand the GF bread was, he did not. I said “that’s ok” and left it alone. A few mins later he returned with the bag that the GF bread came in, so that I could verify the ingredients! I’ve never had a server do this, and it was SO HELPFUL because for the first time in years, I was able to eat toast with my breakfast at a restaurant. Seems like a silly thing but for someone who normally can’t enjoy a piece of toast when I’m out to eat, it made my whole day.
I highly, HIGHLY recommend this place!

Love the great quotes on the wall. The food was delicious. I truly enjoyed my omelet and my friend enjoyed her breakfast sandwich. The kids ate all of their food which is amazing. We will definitely return.

Great Denver omelet! Generous portions all around. Biscuits and gravy were very good – gravy very flavorful.
