I arrived at this restaurant by boat with a colleague of mine and we met some of our customers here for dinner. That was my first time pulling up to a restaurant in Michigan on a boat, which was cool. We ordered some drinks at the bar and the bartender was great and super friendly. Our server had zero personality and may as well been a mime. We ordered some calamari, mussels and crab cake appetizers and they were all very good. I had the crisped walleye which came with Thai vegetables and was in a spicy red curry, it was really good.

This was my first visit here and the restaurant is beautiful, great views and I had an awesome waiter named Leo who I can tell loved his job. I had the salmon crab cakes for starter which was great. My finance ordered the MOT which I tasted and it was delish. I ordered the fried perch . The potatoes was good and the green beans was very flavorful. My perch was bland no flavor I only ate one. I told them of this and there was no discount applied or nothing else offered the attitude of the management was like oh well. I did not make a fuss over it. We paid Bill and left their bland fish.

I’ve been going to it’s A Matter Of Taste for some time now & since they have opened up & have outside dinning we decided to go being it’s out 50th anniversary. The food is always delicious, I had the crispy walleye with a Caesar salad from the limited menu they had for the opening carrot cake for desert with a Elijah Craig Bourbon to was it all down.
It’s was as always just delicious.

Beautiful restaurant! Beautiful gift shop!
I was surprised that the restaurant had such a lovely gift shop! If I lived close and was in a rush, this is where I would pick up a quick gift. From food to wine to candles to jewelry, this shop had something a woman would love (not so much for a man. Just buy a man some beer. They love beer).
The atmosphere here is wonderful! I brought my mom here for her birthday (no freebies or discounts, apparently, on birthdays, unfortunately) and it was perfect! We sat inside on a sweltering hot day, but the doors were open, so we felt like we were outside, except we weren’t hot.
I had brought my mom flowers and a waitress who passed by brought us a container of water so they would remain fresh. Even though she wasn’t our server, when we were ready to leave, she brought paper towel for the flower stems. It was thoughtful!
My mom had chicken and shrimp pasta. I had the Caprese sandwich. We were both happy with our meal. It did take quite a bit of time to arrive though. But we had delicious warm bread to tide us over… Unfortunately I ate so much bread I didn’t have much room for my sweet potato fries, which tasted amazing. My mom loved the light flavor of the sauce on the pasta, and she’s generally pretty hard to please. She said she normally loves the perch, so now she has two favorite meals.
She and I split the carrot cake for dessert. It was a Monday afternoon and not tremendously busy, so we were not rushed by waitstaff and we really took our time after lunch before ordering dessert. The carrot cake was good. Very dense like homemade cake is. It was big enough to share if your bellies are as full as ours.

Great place to feel like you are on vacation for the moment. During these covid 19 times I think if we are going to dine out we all feel safer eating out doors. This restaurant has huge glass garage doors they open to the lake along with outside covered and uncovered patio areas. Plenty of areas with fresh airflow. Tables are social distanced from one another.. Staff are wearing masks.. My side salad was so fresh. The Farfalle Carciofi was so good. It is pasta with grilled chicken, sun dried tomatoes and artichokes in a lemon basil cream sauce. The restaurant has salads, sandwiches and other entrees like fried lake perch, grilled petite filet and more. They have a bar, upstairs banquet room and small gourmet shop for carry out. Give it a try you will not be sorry.

We went for drinks and appetizers. Beautiful venue! Good variety of drinks. Had pineapple margaritas and red wine called Submission. And had some calamari, meatballs, and I think a polenta with cheese appetizer(? ). I would go here again for a meal or special occasion.

When we arrived, we were greeted by two pleasant hostesses and promptly seated on the patio per our request. Our server Ashley was the absolute best. She was very attentive and ensured we were doing well during our meal there. The salmon cakes appetizer was delicious with just the right amount of seasonings. Our entrées were served at the appropriate temperature and portions were generous. The meal was finished by enjoying a tasteful key lime raspberry tarte. The was a memorable celebration for our wedding anniversary ❤️

Went to it’s a matter of taste for my birthday. Weather was not the best but we sat on the patio and they had great outdoor heaters. We enjoyed the view and our server Cameron was awesome. Now to the food. We came there specifically for the Walleye entree. My date had ordered it there before and said it was good. The presentation was awesome. My first bite and instantly was let down. The cook must dumped an entire spice bottle of Cayenne pepper in my dish. My mouth was on fire. I enjoy spicy food that is meant to be spicy. But even in that case this would have been way over the top. Walleye is one of the best fish on the planet. With this much spice on the plate they could have been serving carp and it wouldn’t have mattered. The only flavor I tasted out of the entire entree was cayenne pepper. I was extremely disappointed and doubt I’ll ever go there again. We salvaged the birthday by getting dessert from another restaurant later.
