Grew up in Boone near seven devils and come back early. ever since grandfather restaurant closed I’ve been looking for another place that’s decently priced has amazing food cooked correctly and has exceptionally friendly service. My parents vacation back here also suggested this restaurant for the everyday breakfast. I was not disappointed maybe a 10-minute wait to eat And there was a lot of seats open when we finally got set down which i didn’t understand that but ..
That being said. I am very picky about my breakfast. Eggs over easy HAS to be perfect. Pancakes have to be perfectly cooked. Same for hash browns and bacon. They did nail all the food and would highly recommend their blueberry pancakes! Eggs were perfectly cooked as was the hash browns not soggy/oilly at all.
The service seemed a little understaffed and running hard. I think I saw three servers for the entire place two were extremely nice boisterous and would carry-on conversation with anybody. We happen to get the one that look like she was having a bad day which is understandable If they were understaffed it’s just we only got our water filled once when it was set on the table. Had to ask another server for a couple of things we needed like butter. That doesn’t change my mind about this place I will be back it is my new daily morning breakfast if I’m there for 5 days I’ll be eating there 2 or 3 of those 5 days for sure.
The price was not horrible I would say for the quality of food that I got, not that it was pretty it was just very well cooked, I’d have no problem paying this often to eat there.
Bacon. You can tell it’s good quality bacon from the flavor just if you like your bacon crispy make sure you ask for it

Tartan restaurant was great. Not too many places in the mountains so it was appreciated. It was super busy, but the servers were hustling and we didn’t have to wait long. The food was good. Would have been nice if the music volume was a little lower.

I only ate here with my family for breakfast, wish we’d been able to also try lunch there as well. I decided to try the Tartan Toast – it was ok, but a bit of a let down for $7. One review said “the tartan toast is not to be missed” but I kind of disagree. I’ve attached an image to show it – it’s just some nice toast with a lot of cream cheese. Not bad in any way, just not really something I’d go out of my way for. I wish it had a description on the menu as I’d probably not have tried it. Otherwise I also had an egg and some liver mush with it. Both of those were good. They also had some VERY good coffee. I drank mine black and my wife used some cream in hers and we both thought it was great. Service was pretty quick and the staff were all nice. Would definitely go again. I mostly wanted to post a review on here for anyone wondering what the Tartan Toast was (toast w/ cream cheese).

Cute little restaurant. Food was so good! I had pancakes, but stole a bite or 2 off my hubs plate! Pork chops and gravy! Staff was super friendly and attentive! Parking was lacking, but can’t wait to go back again!

Enjoyed lunch at the Tartan. Great selections to choose from. Breakfast is served all day, but I was in the mood for their Angus beef hamburger and it did not disappoint!

I had been looking forward to trying this restaurant after my brother let me try a biscuit from his breakfast to go order. I have to give this a Taco Bell review, because although the breakfast, western omelet with home fries and biscuit, tasted good by the time we got to Valle Crucis and Mast General Store I had to head straight to the restroom. I’m sorry. Our server was nice. It took quite a while, but it was busy. Maybe my experience was a one off, but I won’t be able to try again.

I will start by saying the breakfast was very good. Eggs cooked perfect, liver mush was crispy on the outside. Delicious. 5 stars to the cook for sure. The service was not so great. Waited 5-10 min before we could order drinks. It was almost an hour before we got our food from the time we walked in. Service 3 stars. Decorated nice and pretty clean. We will be back for sure.

Very reasonably priced and great service. We were lucky! there was only a little wait, but I can see how this place can get backed up as it’s in a prime location with food that is fresh and made to order.

Very yummy! Their potatoe salad is oniony and very flavored filled. The St. Andrew’s club was amazing! Recommend this place for a lunch spot. Very tasty! We came here after a morning of hiking and it was well worth it!
