My wife and I have been coming to Tarntip in Fredericksburg for over 10 years and it’s always a solid choice. The food is consistently fresh and delicious, and the staff is friendly and helpful.
This time I got the Thai beef fried rice medium spicy and it was excellent. Great flavor and cooked perfectly. The spring rolls are always crisp and delicious too. My wife ordered the Yum Nua and she loved it.
We ordered online and did pickup, and everything was ready and packaged well. Plenty of seating inside if you dine in. Overall, a reliable Thai spot we’ll keep coming back to.

I wanted to like Tarntip Thai Cuisine, but the experience fell short. The vibe of the restaurant was chaotic in a way that makes you wonder if the clutter is part of the décor. Open boxes everywhere, large pans and cookware drying on tables, and the entire back section of the restaurant is partially blocked off (I’m being generous here) but still very visible had me thinking, if this is what we can see….what does the kitchen look like??
The Thai iced tea was good, and honestly the only thing that made me feel like I could stick around. The pad Thai was overly sweet, soggy, and missing that perfect mix of crispy, salty, and savory that makes the dish worth ordering. The vegetable spring rolls are exactly the frozen ones from Panda Express with a mushy vegetable filling. They must order from the same mass chain frozen food company….but I did not come for the nostalgia from a fast food chain.
Service was neutral. Not rude, not welcoming or pleasant. Our waitress seemed as invested in us as I was in my meal as I felt after the first bite. The food came out quickly, which could be a plus if you enjoy meals that taste suspiciously pre-made.
Overall, this was not the comforting, authentic Thai experience I was hoping for. Between the visible clutter, lackluster food, and indifferent service, I would not be rushing back. At least the Thai iced tea was good enough to sip while questioning life choices.

I Heard people been talking about padthai at this place so good so today i tried for the first time, the texture of the noodle is good firm and chewy, but its a lil too sweet and they didn’t even give you lime… to sour it down. Just give people a head up so can order it with less sugar or an extra piece of lime. Oh and there is too much oil in the noodles, thats a big no when you try to eat healthy.

The food has fallen off significantly. Ordered crispy chicken, medium spice. Only spice was salt. Inedible, tossed it in the trash. They used to be good, but last few orders before tonight have been meh at best. Mushy rice, inconsistent spice, etc. Tonight was the deal breaker.

Last night, I had dinner at this incredible Thai restaurant and was thoroughly impressed by the quality of food and service. The food was absolutely delicious, bursting with flavor and expertly prepared. What truly set this dining experience apart, however, was the wonderful service provided by our waitress. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and went out of her way to ensure our visit was enjoyable. From offering excellent recommendations to checking in to ensure our satisfaction, her attention to detail was impeccable. Her friendly demeanor and kind disposition helped make our dining experience truly delightful. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone in search of a great meal with outstanding service.
