Cozy. Solid menu. We have been a couple of times. Scallops and duck breast (magret) are very tasty. The citrus butter with the bread serving is interesting, but at times a bit much. Steak and pom frites are all around good. The fries are done in shoestring style and dashed with parmesian. The raclette cheese is a spin on Mexican queso flameado. Give it a try.
Mousse and strawberry cake are good choices for your dessert. The big drawback for me is that a european brasserie, traditionally, brewed beer, especially in Belgium. The wine list is impressive as are some of the cocktails, but not a single decent beer could be found on the very short menu. As a French style brasserie I would at least expect a few French beers, and even some Belgians.

I truly appreciate brasserie cuisine and the talent of chefs around town, which is why I was excited to give this place several tries. Unfortunately, after visiting three different times of the day, the disappointment has been consistent.

The quality of food does not match the menu descriptions—what is offered is often changed by the time it reaches the table because they “ran out of it.” This happens far too often and leaves the impression that the kitchen is unprepared.

There is also very little variety on the menu, and unfortunately, no children’s menu at all. That’s a shame, because it means they’re missing out on families who would otherwise enjoy dining here.

Cocktails take an unusually long time to arrive, and overall the experience feels way overpriced for what is actually being delivered.

It’s unfortunate, especially since this is the only brasserie in the area, because the concept has so much potential. I truly hope they can improve consistency, expand their offerings, and live up to the quality their menu and pricing suggest.

My wife and I come here to celebrate every special occasion! The FOH staff is so friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. The food is always incredible, they have one of the best wine lists in town.
The atmosphere is so warm, calming, tasteful, and rustic. Come for the food, stay because you can actually hear the people you’re talking to.
I’m already planning our next visit!

Tardif’s was the perfect choice for a group dinner because the menu selection is varied and the service is fantastic.
From making our reservation to our service throughout the night, everything was great. We ordered steaks and duck and it was delicious. We were also celebrating and our server brought out celebratory cheesecake which was thoughtful.

We enjoyed a lovely dinner with another couple at an elegant and upscale restaurant. The service was impeccable, and the wine selection was outstanding. My wife, who is French American with family roots in the Bordeaux region, was thrilled to find a bottle we often enjoy at home: Les Cadrans Lassegue by Saint Émilion Grand Cru. Overall, it was a wonderful experience.

However, I rated it 4 stars because a significant portion of the menu, including several wines, was unavailable. We learned that the restaurant is transitioning to a summer menu. I suggest updating your website and informing callers about the limited availability when making reservations. We look forward to returning, but it would enhance the experience if more items were accessible. I added just a few photos. We had much more.

Tardif served up some great food for our first visit! We made reservations so there was no wait and the staff greeted us as we entered. Sat at a table over looking the open kitchen. The restaurant isn’t very big but was busy which makes it feel bigger than it is. Our waiter Sean was very kind and friendly. He made some great recommendations and was very personable. We had the escargot and Brie for appetizers and the beef Wellington and veal for entrees with the potato pave for our side. This was a lot of food. Portions were generous! Everything was very good!

“French-American” cuisine in San Antonio is rare so expect something a little different than other “French” restaurants in SA. I’d say this is French themed Texas cuisine but that’s ok I don’t think it’s supposed to be 100% French and either way it was delicious! There seem to be lots of regulars as the staff and manager recognized some of the other diners which is a good sign.

A few tips: the retail center is an interesting mix of stores with Tardif being the gem. The parking lot is an odd long shape so you might have to park a bit away but not crazy. Get there early if you want to fight for a close spot. Don’t order the beef Wellington if you don’t like rare meat. It will be fairly rare. I love rare steak so perfect to me but I can see how some might not enjoy. Last, it is a scratch kitchen which means made to order from scratch. This takes time. As the restaurant fills up the food can take longer to make as it gets busier. So if you’re in a rush this might not be a place if you’re expecting your food to come out in 5 minutes. I suggest going with people you like talking to, relax, and enjoy your evening.

Where to start, we had an amazing experience dining here and the food didn’t disappoint at all. The chef is always checking in on tables to make sure the food and service is up to par. From the appetizers to main course everything had us commenting on how flavorful the dishes were. The beef Wellington and steak tartare were some of our favorites. See photos for captions of all of the dishes we enjoyed. We will definitely be back!

This is one of my new favorite restaurants. Staff was super cool and attentive. The short rib and pretty much everything was wonderful. Our food was taking a while and not only did the server apologize, the manager and chef came out to our table to apologize.
10/10 will be back

Party of 5 adults on a weekday for dinner. Been here a few times and if you are willing to put down $80-100 (and often more) per person, then you should have no issue. Unfortunately, while the food has usually been quite good, not all of it has justified the cost.

First the good: Service always been superb and the staff is able to handle dietary restrictions well. While not slow, the time from order time to main course on table it not quick either. It is usually 45 minutes, but I would not generally expect quick service in a place like this where you want to sit back and enjoy the meal and company. The steaks were all rated excellent by our party and the sides were wonderful.

Now the not so good: The scallops were rated as good, but under-cooked, by our party member who is also a cook. The Endives Salad was a disappointment. Advertised as having Anjou Pears, we had to ‘search’ for them and finally found three small/thin slices. The party agreed the price for this relatively small and underwhelming salad is not justified.
Atmosphere has usually been quite nice, but we have been here when it is very crowded and difficult to hear conversation.

Not a fan of the duck magnet because it was just too chewy and lacked flavor but everything else was good, plus the service provided by the staff was great. I definitely recommend this place. Its very pricey but worth it.
