The many fans of Taqwa Obaid will be pleased to learn that they no longer have to attend an event or hire her as a caterer to sample her cooking. On July 16, the Greenfield Common Council adopted a resolution granting a permit for Taqwa’s Bakery and Restaurant to operate at 4651 S. 27th Street. “I had heard of her throughout the years through the community – everyone kept raving about how great Taqwa’s food was,” said Sausan Naji, a member of the Milwaukee Muslim Women’s Coalition board of directors. “I would attend events that she had catered and the food was amazing. Every event that we would go to was Taqwa’s food, and people were raving about it.”

We stopped to eat while in town for a concert. We were a little concerned about being about to pronounce things on the menu and figure what we’d like but the waitstaff was absolutely fantastic and friendly. We started with hummus and their naan bread and it was amazing. The presentation of the hummus plate was so cool!
The mixed grill was recommended and it was fantastic. We also got the Mansaf and it was fantastic. The broth was so good we wish they would give us the recipe 🙂
For desert we got a cream cheese stuffed flaky croissant called a Fatayer and pistachio Baklava – both very good!
We highly recommend this place and would be back

This Mediterranean restaurant offers a warm, inviting atmosphere with food that clearly reflects care and tradition. The fatayer and manakish were absolutely amazing—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly baked. The hummus was smooth and rich, and the baklava was a standout, with just the right balance of sweetness and crunch.
The meat platter was generous, though the chicken was a bit dry compared to the rest of the dishes. That said, the overall experience was very enjoyable, and the prices were fair for the quality and portion sizes. A great spot for authentic Mediterranean flavors, especially if you’re there for the breads, spreads, and desserts.

First and foremost, highly recommend Taqwah’s bakery. The staff is the best, food is fresh and delicious, and atmosphere was pleasant. While this is my first visit here, I really enjoyed the wide variety of food that they had to offer. Arabian stuffed grape leaves, assortments of rice, chicken, salads, lamb, and other garnishes. After dinner they had coffee, pastries, fruits, and other delights. Also a smaller prayer area to pray at.

Everything from the service to the food was absolutely amazing and tasted so fresh. Those were by far the best grape leaves I’ve ever had. The Think the Shish, Kebab were also the best i’ve ever had I tries the chicken beef and gyro. The gyro had a bit of spicy and it was so yummy. I can’t wait to go back and try there breakfast

I have been coming to Taqwas for about 3 years now and the services have been attentive and consistent. The food has been just so great in many ways. The vegetables in salads or have been grilled always had excellent textures, flavors color combinations and diversity. The soups have been very creamy, herby and served at the best temperatures. The meats have been tender and well seasoned, especially the chicken. Next time, I would like to get the veggie kabobs. The vegetables are truly devine! I really love coming here! Thank you so much!

Hands down, this has to be one of my top dining experiences in Milwaukee or anywhere. From the great service, to the colorful atmosphere and the amazing food, I have zero complaints. For our appetizer we had the hummus and fatayer (one cheese one meet), entrees we had the mixed grill and the dawalee (stuffed grape leaves) and for dessert we had one pistachio and one walnut baklava.

Everything we ate was very fresh and flavorful. We will definitely be back!

Roommate and I went here after hearing about it on TikTok from a food reviewer I follow closely. I loved the food! My roommate did, too. We felt a little bad because we both had really small appetites when we visited, so we didn’t eat much there, but I’ve devoured my leftovers next day. It reheats really well! The man that seated and served us was really friendly. The atmosphere was great, I loved the red, black, and gold color palette and my roommate and I shared a good moment realizing my outfit accidentally coordinated. I did take off a star for the atmosphere because it had AI paintings in the bathroom … which is an atmospheric ruin for me personally.. anyway enjoy this photo of my stupid plushie with the food..

Absolutely amazing experience at Taqwa Restaurant! The food was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. You can really taste the quality in every bite from the meats to the rice to the sauces. The portions were generous and everything came out hot and fast.

The staff was welcoming and the service was top tier. The restaurant itself was very clean with a great atmosphere for families or even a quick lunch stop.

Definitely one of the best spots in Greenfield for authentic Middle Eastern food. We’ll for sure be back again soon. Highly recommend!

One of my favorite restaurants in the city! The lentil soup is amazing and so is the falafel.

The restaurant gives a Mediterranean vibe with interior decor and nice little music in the background. The staffs were friendly and helpful. But the soul of a restaurant is the food in which the rating of 4.8/5 deceives you. And the reason is obvious— they force you to give them 5 stars standing over your shoulder right across the table, with a pretty smile. We went there last year and they did the same. She brings a card with a QR code on it and asks everyone in the table to bring their phone out of pocket and rate 5. She wouldn’t leave until you do it. I don’t recall any other restaurant doing such things. People typically requests to provide positive reviews and that’s fine. But standing in front of the table until you review is unprofessional.

Oh about the food! We enjoyed the dessert and coffee. Salad was okay. But the chicken, lambs and most of the other foods were tasteless. 8 of us tried their buffet and we all agreed they probably forgot to add any salt or any spices in the meat.
