This was my husband and my first time having Taqueria y Pupuseria Mari. We each got a pork and cheese pupusa and a pork, bean, and cheese pupusa with mild sauce and red sauce. Last minute, we decided to add two quesa birrias. First, I have to say the customer service was top tier. I have anxiety so trying new places can be hard for me. I prefer to be able to look at the menu ahead of time so I can say exactly what I want when I go in because I worry that I’ll look stupid otherwise. I did not feel that way at all when we went in though. I didn’t feel like I was being a bother when I asked what was in something and she actually told us about some menu items without us even asking, giving us recommendations of popular menu items since it was our first time. The food was absolutely delicious, too. My husband and I both loved everything about it. I don’t like cole slaw in general so I didn’t get that but my husband doesn’t mind it so he decided to try the spicy slaw. He said if he liked cole slaw rather than just tolerated it, that would be how he would eat it because it was really good that way.

We arrived at the place and asked for a menu to place a to-go order, there was no menu available, the waitress told us, verbally, what they had, however there was no mention of the prices (shame on me for not asking). We ordered pupusas, they were okay, and we ordered the most expensive chicken tlayuda ever. One tlayuda is $20! (If you don’t know what it is, picture a quesadilla with chicken). I almost fell off the chair after they gave me total. Lesson learned, always ask for prices before ordering.

Easily the most authentic Salvadorian food I’ve had in all of OH. I’d even argue it’s one of the best restaurants in Hamilton.

The food is some of the best authentic Latin food I’ve ever had locally. The owner and her husband were so friendly and chatted with us while we were dining. It felt like we were sitting in a friends kitchen. Definitely give them a try!

Stopped by this modest lunch spot. The woman behind the counter was extremely friendly. I hadn’t had a pupusa in years so I was very happy when she asked me to sit and wait while she prepared and cooked mine. Ten minutes later I walked out with a pork and cheese as well as a bean and cheese. I burned my mouth more than once because they were so delicious it was killing me not to devour them. Served with two housemade sauces (green and red) that had a nice level of heat that went well with the flavor profile. I will be back.

Im obsessed with street tacos like crazy. Their tacos are my favorite. I live next door; however, I don’t really feel welcomed when I go in. I feel like I’m interrupting them or bothering them so I don’t come in or order as much as I want too.

Super friendly people, really good food. I tried the pork/cheese pupusa and a steak (true) gordita. Loved them both. Great hot sauce too (perfect combo of flavor and heat).
