I’ve been waiting for this place to open and the wait was worth it! I had 3 tacos, 2 cabeza and 1 carne enchilada. They were so good, flavorful with juicy meat and great meat portions. The red and green salsas were super tasty and added just enough flavor and heat to enhance the meat flavor. I also had roja tamale which was sooo good. Best tacos I’ve had in a very long time. (Side note: I went at 8:30pm and it was still very fresh and A+ quality) I will be back!

Some of the best Mexican food in New Haven. I had their pastor quesadilla and my partner had the cemita(It was HUGE). The flavor is there and the salsas are spicy too! Great atmosphere and great service. Our waitress, Madu was really kind and explained everything in great detail. Lastly, I have to mention that they have a food truck that’s posted up in the heart of Yale if you find yourself in the area, but their 2nd location on Whalley Avenue has a wider selection of entrees plus the vibrant atmosphere.

We have been searching for a great Mexican restaurant in New Haven since we left California 20 years ago. Up until now, the food trucks along the shoreline have been the only place we could find good options. We are so excited to have discovered Taqueria Tlaxcala! Our experience was fantastic- the posole was outstanding, the meat in the tacos was perfectly seasoned, the tortillas fresh and hot, and the service was great. We will definitely be making this a regular spot to eat, and we encourage anyone looking for great Mexican food to check them out!
