The micheladas are hands down some of the best around, and their daily specials are always worth checking out. My personal favorites are the caldo de res available on Wednesdays and the nopalitos con carne de puerco on Fridays only, until it sells out. Both instantly remind me of my abuelita’s cooking. Comforting, homey, and full of flavor.
They offer complimentary chips and salsa, which is always appreciated, and everything comes out fresh. Juan, the owner, and the entire staff are incredibly warm and hospitable. You truly feel welcomed here.
It’s perfect for both dine-in and takeout, and they even have a separate bar area where you can grab a beer and watch the games.
Closed Sunday through Tuesday, so plan ahead, but absolutely worth the visit when they’re open. A solid neighborhood gem that keeps me coming back.
Taqueria Tepatitlan is the real deal. First, let’s talk about the beer – it’s not just cold, it’s freezing ❄️. They keep the glasses in an ice-cold freezer, and when they bring it out, there’s actual slush forming on the sides. Nothing hits better after a long day!
The food is always spot-on . My all-time favorite is the chorizo breakfast wet burrito – I’ve ordered it at least five times, and it never disappoints. My new obsession? The beef taquitos. You get 4 huge taquitos, perfectly crispy, served with rice, beans, guacamole, sour cream, and fresh salad toppings. Every bite is a winner.
What really makes this place special is the people ❤️. Juan (the owner) and his daughter Kendra treat everyone like family, and the whole staff is just as welcoming. My boss and I go every Friday when we’re in Ventura, and it’s become our go-to spot. Amazing food, the coldest beer, and the kind of hospitality that keeps you coming back.
Food was still awesome, as well as the service. The only downside was botted Cayman Jack margaritas.
The Wednesday special was beef soup as well as the salmon tacos. Both were fantastic. We also had the carnitas plate and flan for dessert.
If you like hot hot sauce they will grant your wish.
My drink (Jamaica) was the star of the show.
If you are looking for authentic Mexican food, look elsewhere as it really does not hit the spot. Couldn’t believe how much salsa they put on my tacos, it almost felt like a personal offense. The salsa was not good at all……As a fellow Mexican, I will not be coming here again. One good thing I can say is the lady serving us was nice.
