This is an authentic restaurant. If you are not prepared for authentic Hispanic food, authentic Hispanic language, or authentic Hispanic environment, please prepare before you go. Food was absolutely delicious! Fresh and prepared fresh. Salsa does not contain chunks and has superb flavor (For my texture aware people).very clean facility and eating area. Kid friendly, our waitress loved our 3 year old talking to her. My new favorite Hueytown Mexican restaurant. 10/10 would recommend.

UPDATE: AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST. SCAM AND FRAUDULENT ACTIVITY. I called them this morning to see if we could fix the fact thy overcharged me for my meal and the woman on the phone giggled and says “we don’t speak English” and hung up on me!! Just ridiculous. Do NOT waste your time. I came in solo to grab something to eat for dinner. I ordered the chilaquiles with shredded chicken. On the menu it said it was $9.99. I also ordered a coke which was $3. When they rang me up it said “custom item” $17.99 before tax. $19.79 after tax. Now I’m no math major but $9.99 plus $3 equals $13 not $17.99. I had a bad feeling about the total but just decided to tip my 20% and leave.

The waitress seemed to have a hard time understanding our orders spoken in English. Then brought our drinks and food (my order was not correct but I took it ad-is) then didn’t come back until we had been looking for her to ask for refills. She took our cups but didn’t give us correct refills, even though we had reminded her what we were drinking. She brought us tap water. The food was terribly greasy and not good. It was an overall disappointing experience.

I don’t understand the bad reviews and honestly now that we went I’m convinced that a competitive restaurant posted false reviews. Because, the food was authentic, fresh, and absolutely delicious! Our server was sweet and took very good care of us, ignore these lies I mean bad reviews and don’t sleep on this restaurant! We will be coming here frequently, now that we finally went! Not bad! The machetes were really good but the menudo had no hominy in it which was weird, the chips were a little thick and almost stale and the horchata tasted thin or watered down.

Placed my order online. When I arrived, they had no record of my order, so I stood around waiting while they prepared it. Not to mention, they weren’t even remotely apologetic. Then, I check my bag and see that there are no chips and salsa…So I went back inside to ask if it should have come with them, and the girl says no while looking at me like that’s a crazy question to ask.
Won’t come here again. There are enough Mexican restaurants in the area that if you can’t even get chips and salsa with your order and place an order online, you might as well go elsewhere. Especially if it says on the website that it will be served with chips and salsa, and it’s not priced any cheaper than any of the others. Just saying.
And I’m updating to add that the food is extremely mediocre. Soggy enchiladas, the beans are awful, and the rice tasted ok, but I barely got any…DO NOT RECOMMEND.

So many places label themselves as “authentic mexican” and aren’t but this place is definitely authentic Mexican food. The tacos and machetes were delicious but the chips and salsa are not worth it. Their agua de jamaica (hibiscus drink) was also delicious and you can tell it’s the real thing too. I recommend this place if you ACTUALLY want to experience authentic Mexican food and not some imitation. Price-wise, I consider it a little expensive but every place in or near Birmingham appears to be like that unfortunately…

Me and a buddy stopped by here on the way through working and we had an interpreter for our server cause the first one couldn’t speak English. That’s how authentic Mexican it was. After a few minutes we realized we were the only white people there. That was the best food Mexican wise I had ever ate.

Nasty attitude , ordered chicken nachos online my food wasn’t ready when I go there , when I first got there they handed me the wrong order . Waited on my correct order when it came out the plate was full of lettuce & chips no flavor barely any cheese or meat ! When asked for a refund I was told they don’t speak English !!! Will never EAT HERE AGAIN
