I ordered an Enchilada plate ($18.99) & “SUPER” carne asada burrito (13.60) to go w/ tax & tip, OVER $40.
“SUPER” carne asada burrito:
Carne asada, black beans, rice, cheese, sour cream, light salsa, add onions & cilantro. On the side: guacamole.
Size DEFINITELY matters, folks! Length: 7-8 inches. Diameter: 2 inches! Girth: I could ALMOST touch my index finger to my thumb, you do the math. Salsa: NONE AT FRIFFIN’ ALL! Cheese: barely any & Sour cream: ALWAYS A SPARSE AMOUNT at one end. It’s as if the cost of the sour cream and cheese come heavily taxed directly out of the cook’s paychecks/tips on the daily. The beans were cooked through AND unforgivably bland. The “spanish/mexican” rice was only that in COLOR, unseasoned and tasteless. The temp of the burrito was damn near room temp after a FOUR MINUTE WALK HOME, despite being wrapped in foil.
The Ground Beef enchilada plate w/ Black beans & Rice (guacamole on the side). Enchiladas at this place means WET, SAUCED TACOS in your choice of red or green sauce. Seeing how I’ve already discussed the black beans & “spanish/mexican” rice… let’s talk tortilla chips instead, shall we?
Tortilla Chips: Oh, now these? Now these give me the impression they are fresh from a bag at a manufacturing plant. They’re unsalted, but that’s okay. The quality, flavor, thickness & spice level of the salsa & pico depend on the mood & ash-hattery of the salsa person, I guess… Habanero today didn’t even dew my brow!
Overall: Taco Bell & Del Taco does WAY better than this place. It’s clearly for the unmelanated, undercooked & unseasoned palate of CERTAIN people w/ dietary restrictions.
Drinks: The best bet is the Agua Fresca… Every time I’ve tried a soda from their soda machine, the SYRUP to CARBONATION ratio is way off: its FIZZY and UNsweet.
I assure you, you’ll not get what you paid for UNLESS you dine in, maybe.
THEY RARELY CLOSE THE TO-GO CONTAINERS COMPLETELY EVERRRRRRRR! So do your due diligence & make sure they’re snapped shut on all sides if you’re ordering to go, or there’ll be a mess in the bag.
Hope this helps save you time, money & from disappointment.
Their weekend street taco special is a great deal and they pile them up with meat!
The food is fantastic. Some of the best Mexican food we’ve had in a long time. The red sauce is not spicy but more traditional of New Mexico, not Tex Mex.
Kinda glad we’re just visiting because we’d eat there way too much!
Get the enchilada plate. Soooo good!
Tried the salsa bar, one was labeled “At your own risk, habanero sauce” I tried it and it was very good, and clears the sinuses! Clean place…. Give it a try, you won’t be sorry!
Good selections of items, menu display was clearly posted. Seating was open and clean. Salsa bar was well stocked.
Food was very good, take out items was still warm when we got home. Everyone enjoyed their dinner, servings were good portions.
Breakfast menu looks good too.
We’ll definitely return.
