Taquería El Rey was a pleasant surprise! For being in the Midwest, the food was good and had mostly authentic flavor. The service was friendly and efficient, and everything came out fresh. They don’t serve alcoholic beverages, but you can do carry-out or use the drive-through, which is super convenient. Overall, a good spot for Mexican food in Omaha — definitely worth a visit if you’re craving tacos or burritos around here.

I’ve always loved their burritos, last few times it’s been literal trash! I got choked out by this stringy meat! For the price I don’t think so!! I tried to eat it because this is my favorite place to get burritos and I had to stop because I was getting gagged by stringy meat!! They must put scrap meat in them! This is the second time so there won’t be a third!

Five stars for my all-time favorite chicken burrito for over a decade. Not sure why I missed the review on this. I’ve actually never eaten inside or ordered anything else because it’s so good!

Stopped on Sunday for carry out. Dine in at the time seemed to be temporarily closed probably due to staffing.
My favorite tacos were cachete and buche. The cachetes (cheeks) were tender, fatty, shredded beef with a nice charred pieces and a butter after taste. The buche had a clean taste with a hint of spicy. Nice mix of textures such as chewy and soft crunch.
The asadas were ok and I’ve had better adobadas.
Despite the increased volume channeled to the drive-thru, the line of cars moved very fast. The process was to order at the sign, pay at the windows, park and the food will be brought to you.

Orange juice was great! Fresh squeezed. $4.99 for a medium, 6.99 for large. Coke bottles are super tall. The melon drink was very refreshing. They didn’t have Pina but they had Pina colada. The large is very large and a great price.
My enchilada was decent at $8.99. I liked how stringy the cheese was.
Had the fish (mojarra frita) $10.99. It was great! Very flavorful.
They served it with turnips, fresh like wedge and fried jalapeno .
The cow tongue burrito and the shredded pork burrito was delicious.
I’d skip the quesadilla though. There are just better options.
The seafood soup was delicious but too spicy for me. If you like spice then great!
*Edit*
Looks like the prices have gone up a little since last I was here.

This place is ok, it use to be good but these past few months we tried it for a couple more times, unfortunately the chips have been rancid, and this last time our child’s chicken tenders were cooked on the outside but RAW inside, the waiter was great, she apologized but raw chicken is dangerous, specially for a little kid.

The food is dry and a pile of hard fried pieces of what used to be edible meat hidden under a ton of onions. For almost $15 (including a credit card fee) this is unacceptable.
