After a slew of high-end restaurant failures….
I’m glad to have found something simple, unique and delicious for half the price of the usual 2 person dinner.
The food was used with fresh ingredients. And THE flavors were perfect! We got two enchiladas cheese and green sauce and a Chile Relleno as well as the lingua taco.
The enchiladas, though looking very basic had a green sauce with the perfect amount of tang and also enough heat to Surprise your taste buds, but keeping it calm and in combination with the beans and rice. it was a fantastic simple plate of food.
The Lengua was definitely slow cooked and had a very nice meaty taste while keeping it fantastic melty texture. Not only that but the soft corn tortillas kept 100% of the taco together in the entire time I ate it.
Now the star of the show was definitely the Chile Relleno! It was small but rounder, The egg coating perfectly cooked and covered in a fan steak red sauce that I have never tasted before.
My partner and I absolutely loved Chile rellenos and this place about ruined them for us….
A fantastic hole in the wall and also right off of the highway. This is a place. I definitely recommend if you’re prepared for some good simple decent food.

Amazing food and customer service. I had the torta de chilaquiles con asada y huevos and it was one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had. Food is truly authentic and prepared by a chef with passion and skill. The salsas are fantastic. The portions are very generous and everyone in our party loved the food. Everything about this restaurant was excellent and I would highly recommend it.

I stopped at this little restaurant by my house. I have been wanting to try the wet burrito. So, I ordered it with the chicken. I took it home and took my first bite and fell in love! This is the best burrito in the world! I’ll be back to try the asada wet burrito next time. Deliciousness! Wow!

Tried this place for the first time Friday, it is absolutely our new favorite Mexican spot! Staff was super friendly, and the food was incredible! They make a lot of stuff in house, and you can tell they take pride in their food! Even their chamoy is homemade, I could eat just that by itself.

Taqueria El Jacalito is such a hidden gem in Salem! The food is absolutely amazing, very authentic Mexican flavors that taste homemade and full of love. It seems like it family run, the atmosphere is cozy, cutesy, and welcoming, and everyone is incredibly kind. The quality of the food is outstanding, especially for how affordable it is. Every bite feels fresh and thoughtfully prepared. If you’re looking for delicious, authentic Mexican food with a warm, friendly vibe, this place is a must try. I’ll definitely be coming back soon!

The establishment itself was clean with the original diner feel, and the staff was very welcoming. I felt right at home, so much that I contemplated checking my 23 and me.
I ordered the torta de chilaquiles con asada y huevos per my sister’s recommendation. It was like nothing I’ve had before! All of the various textures and flavors throughout were pleasing to the palate. I nearly licked the plate clean. (altho momma taught me manners) I look forward to a return visit as there were several menu items that caught my eye.
Trust me on this one.

Chose this place randomly and am so happy. Service and food was great. I had had the Grilled chicken quesadilla and it was delicious. My family also loved their choices. It’s a small humble environment. The food definitely won’t disappoint. Now I know where to go for great Mexican food.
