One of the best hole in the wall Mexican restaurants I’ve ever been to. Everything I’ve had is amazingly flavorful. My friend from Cali says it’s the closest thing to what he remembers from home and as he’s Mexican and I’m from Buffalo NY I’m guessing he’d have a better idea than myself as to this cuisine. That said, I always get a torta as I’ve had them from all over the greater Minneapolis area and these are awesome with whatever meat you like and avocado, tomato, soft cheese on a buttery toasted roll. It’s easily enough for a meal but I usually get more. Just had the gordita, was expecting a taco bell like toasted flatbread like thing. It’s actually like a thick corn tortilla that gets slightly crispy and toasty on the outside and it’s brilliant. The hibiscus drink he gave us was refreshing and well balanced. I will end by saying it’s sad to have to relate this but it’s struggling now for all too obvious a reason. This is the best we’ve found and it’d be tragic to lose what makes this place so great because of ignorant short-sightedness.

Carne asada taco are THE best we’ve had in MN. Husband and I have been looking for something comparable to what we would get in Chicago and this is it. Fresh, delicious, and authentic. Staff are great and the price is right. So glad to have found this place.

I really wanted to like this place — I came here specifically to try the birria tacos, but unfortunately, this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a long time.
First off, the sanitation here is clearly lacking. The table was still sticky when we sat down, and everything — from the plates to the sauce containers — felt greasy and unclean. I tried to brush it off until I found what looked like a piece of red string or possibly hair inside my birria taco. It was tangled in with the meat and cheese — absolutely disgusting.
The moment I saw it, I stopped eating immediately. It completely ruined my appetite and made me question the hygiene practices of the entire kitchen. I didn’t even want to finish my meal or risk trying anything else.
I’m not one to leave bad reviews lightly, but this crossed a line. Until they take cleanliness seriously and fix these food safety concerns, I’d stay far away. Not worth the risk.

Best birria tacos around, and their salsa verde is top notch! I’d order from here almost weekly, but for some reason now Doordash says they are too far away? Really bummed, I hope that gets fixed!

What are relief it was pulling up and seeing the front, just exudes delicious food awaits within! First had the chicken tacos, oh man, haven’t had chicken tacos that good in a long time. Perfectly cooked and seasoned, moist and delicious. Had their green sauce with them, and put a little of the red sauce sitting on the table, perfect flavor cohesion! Sprinkle a little salt on top, put a squeeze of lime on before adding the sauce. Had to try the steak, and I’ll tell you, very close to a favorite place of mine in Chicago!
Delicious meal, definitely come check out Taqueria El Girasol!! Glad I looked on maps to search for a place for tacos they stuck out to me.
