On 101 northbound at M st. is this Mexican restaurant with a sauce bar. Order at the counter and prepay. Chips brought out are plain from a bag, but there are four sauces, pico, picked jalapenos, radish and lime in the sauce bar.
The space is nice with an open beam ceiling, skylight and basic Mexican food and art canvases. Two tv screens with one showing Mexican music videos add to the ambiance. Patrons used to take away do come in for food pickup regularly during my visit. There are booths, tables and high tops.
The colorful menu displayed on two large monitors is easy to read while standing. There are the usual items a la carte, only a few plates and a couple of weekend specials. Currently only soft drinks, but liquor license application in the window. No sweets or desserts.
I ordered the tri tip plate, which is not available, I asked about getting a plate with birria, but offered a carne asada substitute plate. I order the regular birria soup which comes without rice and beans.
The food quality is very good, the pico is nice and fresh, green and red sauces are very good, as well as a couple of special sauces that came with the birria. The four warm corn tortillas are plain and are like packaged calidad with decent elasticity and flavor. The birria is rich and deep in flavor with not too much fat and has a soft shredded beef texture. The spice heat level is medium and none of the hot sauces are very hot. No habanero sauce, but the picked jalapenos have a bit of kick.
The service was very good, a bit of Spanish language helps with ordering. The staff seems to be a family with a young man and child present on a Sunday evening. The chef can come out to the counter to confer with you on options and ingredient details. The sit down area was very clean and not busy at all. The view outside is of traffic and a motel parking lot across the street.
I enjoyed eating here and would like to try other items in the future. I would like to see more combination plates, tamales, specials, salads and desserts in the future.

The best taco truck in town now has a restaurant! This location has bad bad luck for a long time but I hope Tacos el Gallo can change that. I’ve been eating at the truck for years and today I confirmed, the restaurant is just as good or better. I loved the fajita burrito, my wife loved the shrimp burrito, and their red salsa is still the best in the county. Highly recommended!!!

Food is unreal good. Going to the truck has always been a treat for us. We never knew they had a brick and mortar in town until they moved next to the mall. I wondered if the fixed location could match the taste of the mobile grill. It was all that and more. Probably one of the best carne asada super burritos I have had up here. Had the super taco today and it was a meal by itself. This crew is on point. IDK about the one star haters that were crying with empty bellies while the move was happening. You can just toss those in the trash. This place is 5 star all day every day.

Super delicious food. We usually get the super burritos. This is seriously the best place in town! The people who work there are super nice and we always get our food super quick. The salsa bar is also a plus. Definitely reccomend.
