Finally, after searching for years… I have found THE taco spot in Elgin! Yes, the prices listed are incorrect, printing is expensive and online sources lie; as of 8/2025, they’re $3.75/taco. Still about $1/taco cheaper than some places, AND they’re better than average, AND they’re bigger than average (twice the size of a couple well known places down the street – I’m looking at yall southeast on villa)! Steak, al pastor, barbacoa, Chile relleno – all on point.
Opened late for me as well, good help is hard to find. Not open at 10 but came back a little before 11 and she apologized for the late start.
As far as the reviews claiming rude, or racist to non-hispanics, I didn’t experience this. I’m sure she deals with all sorts of weird, rude and entitled folks on a daily basis. I tried as much Spanish as I could (meats and numbers) and I think she had a chuckle. I’m comfortable enough I don’t mind laughing at myself. And she CAN speak English too!
As far as I’m concerned, this place is a gem and I will be back almost every time I’m working in Elgin.

Stopped in to grab a bite after driving by it numerous times. Ordered the “Torta gigante” which is truly a giant torta! I went with the “Cubano” which had milanesa, beans, ham, a fried egg and avocado. The sandwich is huge and enough for 2 people to share. Got some rice on the side. They also gave me chips and salsa with my order at no extra charge. Will be going back to try other items on the menu.

First time here. I really wanted to have a good chile relleno. Unfortunately their relleno was greasy and not good. The steak taco was also OK at best. My friend liked the Burrito.

This place is 10 out of 10. Everything is so delicious. The staff is so nice. You can order in English or Spanish. Family owned atmosphere. The fires are so good. Crispy crunchy chefs kiss.

If I could give this place 10 stars I would I have been ordering from this place the last 3 days in a row because I couldn’t be happier!! First day I ordered chicken soup and WOW!! It was delicious and only $9 on uber eats for a 24 oz soup!! It even came with 6 tortillas and toppings on the side!! I even added a can of coke for $1.25 and they gave me 2! There was no delivery fee too my whole order wasn’t even $13 on uber eats which is crazy I’ll order a cheeseburger from McDonald’s and it’s basically $13 the soup was enough for 2 people it has vegetables, rice and 4 pieces of chicken! The next day I ordered a cheeseburger meal that was $7 on uber eats!!! It came with fries there were perfectly seasoned fries on the same level if not better than checkers and the burger was huge and on the same level as a portillos burger! But today honestly left me speechless I ordered a torta for $12 on uber eats and I was amazed! This torta was the size of a new born child and they even included chips and salsa it was enough for my roommate and I, and we are both grown adults i eat a whole medium dominos pizza to myself as a snack so you know I can eat

Burritos are good here, however their tacos have barely any meat, onions, and cilantro! Great flavor, but quantity is low. For $3.75, definitely not worth it!

I have been here only a few times in the last couple of years and the food is awesome! Huaraches are one of my favorite Mexican dishes and they have them! The salsas are different with good flavor and spicy. I definitely recommend it. Also inexpensive and good service. Very nice little spot

We ordered a 3 steak taco dinner, and a tostada dinner over the phone, i repeated, she repeated correctly what i said back, and then they gave us this instead 3 steak taco dinner, another 3 steak tacos, and a thing of nachos?…. Looks good, but not even our order. This was about 11:15am, nobody in the place just the cook, and lady, and still messed it up. Called to tell them, and still couldn’t get her to understand she messed up, tried telling me it was right. Will not be back. Feels like someone else has taken over cause it’s changed used to be a favorite place.
