My husband ordered the carnitas tacos and enjoyed them. I opted for the chicken nachos and found them to have a good amount of cheese and meat on them. It was also a decent sized portion.
Did not like the all pastor protein (dry, chewy and lots of chunks of fat).
Communication (instructions on text messages and pick up) was very poor
The food was not mind-blowing but better than average I would say. I think they would benefit from using beyond meat / impossible meat instead of whichever vegan chorizo they used.
The horchata was GREAT though, get it.
Undoubtedly, I will be back soon. Highly recommended visit Taqueria El Barrio in Boston.
Absolutely great tacos, what makes a good taco is the tortilla.
out of 23 restaurant in the boston area here the tortillas are freshmade the best tacos spot 100% authentic
This is hands down best taqueria in town.
I cannot recommend this place enough. The food is very good and the staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. I ordered from their Harvard Square location. What an incredible experience and atmosphere.
Props to the chef, he has a good personality and true passion for his talent.
Did I mention that the tortillas are homemade? Soooo good! You can tell each ingredient is made with true love.
Best Tacos In America ❤️
BUT…
I also ordered some Mexican street corn. This option on the menu is the main reason I decided to choose this restaurant. I LOVE Mexican street corn. It is its inclusion on the menu that caused me to order from this restaurant. In general, I love corn regardless of how it’s prepared. I have eaten raw unsweetened unseasoned corn on the cob and been very happy.
So it is with great consternation that I say that I could not finish, nay, not eat most of my Mexican street corn. I like squeezed lime, especially in my Mexican dishes. But all three chunks of cob were soaked in an unpalatable degree in lime juice, to the point they were too sour to even eat. I’ve had street corn all over this was the first and hopefully only I could not stomach. They were absolutely terrible, and I didn’t even know you could do that with corn on the cob. If I was giving this restaurant a rating on their corn I would give it a one. Genuinely awful.
But then all three of the tacos I ordered were good, with the exception of the tortilla, which reminded me more of rice paper than a tortilla.
Get the tacos. Avoid the corn with your life.
