Mulitas were fair. Heavy on the cheese. Asada tacos were great. Nice hot sauce.

Heading to Nashville with a group of thirty three good Chrisitian boys can be a nerve-wracking experience. Heading to Nashville with a group of BAD christian boys AND GIRLS is a total nightmare. Mix a messy divorce and a few bad investments into the salad and you’re one spark away from a disaster of magnanimous proportions. The flight went uneventful save for three kids tripping and jumping on top of an American Airlines flight attendant. And my upset stomach. And the plane had almost barrelrolled off the runway, had I not physically restrained twelve Green Bay Packers fans from beating up two Chicago Bears fans. Piece of cake. Needless to say, your boy was STARVING. I could eat an entire horse and still have room for dessert. I typed restaurants into ChatGPT (TM), and was recommended, “Taquería Don Carbón”. I’ve been to Nashville a few hundred times on business trips in my days and I’ve never heard of “Taquería Don Carbón”. Nu nu. It would have to do. It sounded affordable enough. I lugged all my boys and girls the full five hour walk because the YMCA doesn’t pay for transportation in the city. And we couldn’t find a sponsor. By the time we made it, I was soaked in blood sweat and guts. The door opened and I nearly fainted. It was my ex-wife, on a date, with my high school gym coach. I am sixty years old. This guy must have been 100. Somehow, I stayed strong for the kids and ordered some of the best food I’ve ever eaten. I even forgot about my ex-wife. And the kids. What I didn’t forget about however was my upset stomach. The bathroom will never be the same. Highly recommended!!!

This area of Woodbine has a half dozen taco trucks & stands on every block. Don Carbón’s truck is worth the stop. My al pastor came perfectly seasoned, the vegetables were fresh, the frijoles refritos were flavorful without being greasy, and the rice was fluffy & moist. Importantly, nothing was oversalted — a refreshing departure from so many other taquerías that go heavy on the salt. Plus, the salsa cremosa verde had a proper kick to it.

I went one time and ordered tacos for 1.50 each. I went back the same week and now they 2.50 each and made it seem I was crazy for asking. As a person of color or non Latino they will change the prices on you.
