I like their food next time I’ll ask if they can cook the meat a tiny bit more. Un poquito más doradita and it would be perfect. The salsa not great. I like my agua. The torta was good. The gordita not bad either just a bit oily.

Great place for authentic Mexican food. You know it’s good because there is always a wait but they get the line down quick.
There is also a bakery in the restaurant that you can browse around while you wait.
I got the big tex burrito and it was great. The salsa that comes with the chips is so delicious, we had to buy a container to take home too. The Hercules juice was so, so good and a definite must try. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We loved the gorditas too. Whatever cheese they put on them is delicious and passes the cheese pull test.
Service was amazing. All of the staff were super friendly and attentive. Our food came out very quickly too.
Parking is pretty easy since they have a large parking lot behind the restaurant.

If you’re looking for comida auténtica that hits just right, Taqueria Del Sol on Park Place is la mera mera. This place has been serving up classic Mexican dishes for years, and it shows in every bite – from the handmade tortillas to the perfectly seasoned meats.
The atmosphere is alegre y acogedor — colorful walls, friendly staff, and a laid-back vibe that makes you feel like you’re stepping into la cocina de tu abuelita. It’s casual, but there’s nothing casual about the flavor.
I had a Barbarcoa Gordita — tender, juicy beef smothered in cheese, wrapped in a warm corn tortilla. ¡Delicioso!
Melt-in-your-mouth magic. They don’t skimp on portions either — bien servidos and satisfying.
The real surprise was the bakery section. Don’t leave without trying some pan dulce – especially the conchas. Soft, fresh, and just sweet enough to pair with a cafecito. Pure comfort.
Taqueria Del Sol is the kind of place you go to when you want real Mexican food — nada Tex-Mex, just the good stuff your tía would make. Affordable, flavorful, and lleno de corazón.
Recomendado 100%. Bring your appetite, your love for comida casera, and maybe a stretchy waistband.
Buen provecho!

I’ve been hooked on Taqueria Del Sol ever since I moved to Houston over 10 years ago. This review goes beyond the consistent quality the restaurant delivers. It’s about the fond memories, the comfort, and the feeling that not many other places can create.
I truly hope it stays just the way it is, so one day I can bring my kids here and share the same experience. This place is a treasure, and Houston is lucky to have it.

The tacos are very tasty and full of toppings. Especially the lengua and barbacoa, I really liked them.
The service was great and friendly. We had some questions about sizes and the staff brought out the bowls to clearly explain.
The lemonade is really good, especially if you like it sweet.

Wanted to give a special shout out to the new healthy option at Del Sol: the Chicken Breast Bowl! Lightly sautéed veggies with grilled chicken breast

I’ve been chowing down at this spot since I was in their booster seats. Now as an adult I admire their consistency. The salsa and chips are the best, but my go to is their gorditas, extra meat extra cheese for me. With an agua fresca you can never go wrong. This is a Houston staple and powerhouse. Parking is vast and you’ll need it as it can get pretty packed at peak hours.

It had a long time visiting this restaurant but it is definitely not like it used to be. I went with the Quesadilla plate and was very disappointed. Hardly any cheese and the carne asada had no flavor. Rice and beans had no flavor and seemed to have come from a can. Actually canned refried has better flavor. My wife had the Carne Asada plate mixed. The chicken was super dry and tasted old or freezer burned. The picture on the menu is what it used to look like but definitely doesn’t represent what you actually get. On the plus side, the Bakery is still good. It was not worth the wait of 45 minutes to be seated

Allow me to say we moved from the hood about 11 years ago, so when we dropped into our ol school fave spot, believe me I was FLOORED when we saw how the place has changed to LOOK uppity but the taste the was faaar below expected. It hurt to pay for the meal that we forced down. The tortas were sooo blah, my husband got one of the bigger burritos y nada de sabor, my sons quesadilla was mid, even the baby didn’t want to eat. Again, it hurt to pay for such a terrible meal. The horchata was ok, but the pepino n limon was the only highlight of the meal. On the bright side the waitress was ON TOP OF HER GAME, was within reach, but not hoovering, polite and fast fast… what a shame that the food didn’t match the service. We won’t be back…. what a shame that they’ven strayed far away from being known as the top shelf they used to be at Del Sol.
