Taqueria Cuernavaca is one of those neighborhood spots you’re grateful to have nearby. Located right on the Avenue, it’s easy, comforting, and consistently good.
For me, one of the best indicators that the food is going to be amazing is when there are dish photos on the menu. That alone sets the tone. The fresh salsa bar is a standout, and yes, they have Mexican Coke and cervezas.
On weekends, don’t miss the white pozole with crunchy rolled taquitos filled with ricotta-style queso and all the fresh fixings. Add that chili oil and thank me later. I also love their tacos, especially the veggie ones. I’m not vegetarian, but they’re that good.
The ambiance is casual and welcoming. Clean, bright, and no-frills in the best way. It feels like a true neighborhood taquería where you can come as you are, whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or sitting down to enjoy your meal.
I recently learned this is their first location, which makes it even better. It’s family-owned, now with four locations across Santa Barbara, Oxnard, and Ventura County, yet it still feels grounded and local.
You can dine in, take out, or order delivery. The place is spotless, service is quick, and the staff is genuinely kind.
A solid go-to for quality Mexican food that hits every time.

Fabulous find! I came across this small restaurant in Ventura and it truly impressed me. The service was excellent and the Mexican food was absolutely delicious. The chips with guacamole were fresh and flavorful, and we also enjoyed the Cuban torta, flautas, gorditas, sopes, alambres, tacos—everything was outstanding. Highly recommend this place!
After many years of having lost track of this restaurant, I finally found it again—and I’m not losing it this time. A very long story with a happy ending.

Best legit, vegetarian tacos I’ve ever had! Highly recommend Veggie Taco #1 and #2. The refried beans are also vegetarian and came in a cute little chip cup. Also ordered a grilled jalapeño which was grilled to perfection. Will definitely be back! Free parking in the adjacent lot.

DISHONEST OWNER – these guys claim to be open until 8 pm but go by on a Sunday night at 750 pm and they will say CLOSED and turn you away. Apparently the owner told them shutter early tonight because it was slow. No self respecting business owner would do that. I’m not buying it.

Food is good, but they use a terrible online ordering system. Have been billed without my order going through. Website says to contact for any issues, but no contact info given. Called the restaurant and was told they couldn’t help with that.

Beef Flautas were delicious. The tomatillo salsa in the salsa bar was perfect with them. My friend ordered the nachos, and they were also really good. Guacamole is fresh.

Surprisingly delicious food. I ordered the mole enchilada and u should’ve asked whether they were spicy or sweet mole which in this case they were the latter, I don’t care for sweet mole so it was not my cup of tea. I am glad I had ordered an al pastor taco and tripas taco. Both tacos were delicious with al Pastor been a slight favorite. I would definitely recommend them. Service was friendly and accommodating.

terrible service. went to order at the counter today and there was a guy and a girl who just looked like deer in headlights. no hi, no i can take your order..nothing. i regret tipping to someone who didn’t even greet me. just have kiosks so we can order because ordering from a screen is better than those people working there.
