Taqueria Casa Mixteca in Burien is the kind of place that reminds you why food is more than just a meal it’s a cultural experience. From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed with warmth and genuine friendliness that makes you feel less like a customer and more like a guest in someone’s home. The staff carry themselves with pride and kindness, and that energy sets the tone for everything that follows.
The atmosphere feels like a small portal into Oaxaca colorful, expressive, and alive with detail. The decorations and artwork aren’t just aesthetic choices; they tell a story. Every wall, every piece of décor, every menu offering feels intentional and rooted in tradition. You can feel the cultural heartbeat of the place while you dine.
And the food delivers on that promise beautifully rich flavors, comforting textures, and dishes that taste like they come from generations of craft rather than a recipe sheet. Each plate feels abundant and thoughtfully prepared, the kind of meal you slow down for and savor.
If you’re looking for more than just good food if you want an experience that feels authentic, welcoming, and memorable this spot is a gem. Five stars without hesitation.

Fast and friendly service. Food is slightly in a different style than your regular Mexican food. It’s really good though, worth trying!
Bathrooms were super clean!

We stopped by for lunch, the food was great and generous portions. My favorite was the burrito and the tostadas were delicious as well. The meat in the entomatadas was a bit dry, but other than that we enjoyed our experience. Felt authentic and the soup was complementary.

The atmosphere here is beautiful. Coffee was ok, I ordered the tamales one of each, pork, chicken, and cheese. They did not have the cheese, so I got the other two. Pork tamale dough was dry, as was the meat. Needed lots of green salsa. The chicken tamale was better on flavor. The dough was still dry, and the chili spice was strong =good. I used the red salsa on this one it was HOT! VERY GOOD. I think the dryness came from the tamales having been frozen for too long.

Absolutely fabulous Mexican food from the Oaxaca region. This food really had a great depth of flavor that is hard to find outside of Mexico. The counter staff was very kind and helps explain dishes. They have some of the hits that we like to have when we travel. The interior is very warm and interesting and has a shop of souvenirs, cooking equipment, and Mexican culinary items to take home. We look forward to eating our way through this menu because everything we ordered was fabulous.
