So yesterday we decided to order for the whole family and wanted Mexican and this is the spot we always go to it’s usually really good but yesterday we ordered 4 orders a carnitas platter a carne asada platter a kids quesadillas platter and a carnita burritos everything supposed to come with rice and beans except the burrito our first issue was while I was on the phone they didn’t tell us there was no rice left. When my husband picked up the food they told him only one platter didn’t have rice and that was not true only one platter had rice and the rest did not everything else had fries they should have just told us over the phone when we ordered platters that were supposed to have the rice. Second major issue and the deal breaker was when we started eating and our food was so darn salty we couldn’t eat it at all I felt so bad for my kids they were hungry my son attempted to eat his burrito but it was too salty they only thing that was not salty was the carne asada the meat itself everything else was covered in salt. I decided to call them to let them know the issues the lady on the phone acted like she didn’t care and said she would let the cook know she didn’t ask if we wanted something else or even a partial refund something for all the problems we had with the food.I told her I could bring the food in to her so she couldn’t taste how salty it was I know other customers had to also complain that day that’s how bad the salt level was on our food there is no way other customers like their food with that amount of salt in it…. It’s not like we spend $20 when we order from them we spend $70 sometimes more and for the lady on the phone to not even care one bit and hang up on me I felt upset. I will never eat here again they lost a good customer I had to make my kids sandwiches after spending almost $70 on 4 platters that went in the trash I didn’t even give the food to my dogs that’s how salty it was. I guess we have to find a new spot for our Mexican night. They need better customer service.

Ordered chicken enchiladas and got one beef one chicken and 2 cheese. Super dry. Barely no sauce. Seems like it’s been sitting forever before the pick up and my husband picked up the order earlier than the wait time! Would never order from there again. So disappointing. And I got charged $17 for this!!!

Ordered Doordash delivery and the food came in less than 35 minutes. It was still hot and very good. Very impressive to pack the fajitas in the pineapple and still come nice and neat, not ruined or spilled. My cheese enchiladas were tasty and came with beans and rice entree. I really enjoyed the packaged tres leche cake not being destroyed.

Me and my friend were dying for tacos last night. We ordered at 8:40 and they gladly made our order. (Close at 9) The absolute best tacos I’ve had. Fresh and delicious! All the sides were delish!! My new taco place for sure! We will be back to try more dishes!!

Compliant regarding employee named Marco. Provided the worst customer service over a wrong order ever.
My boyfriend and I recently became frequent fliers to Taqueria Atexquita, but one employee alone will change that over our experience today.We always order the same thing. A steak burrito with a side of rice and [refried] beans, a kids quesadilla meal with chicken as the meat, and 2 churros. We ordered as usual today.
When we arrived home (20 minutes away) we found our order to be grossly incorrect. The burrito was some monstrosity drenched in green sauce and only contained black beans and weird looking steak inside. The side of beans was missing completely. The kids meal wasn’t a kids meal at all, it was a big corn tortilla with barely any chicken or cheese inside, also missing the sides indicated on the menu. No churro’s at all.
We called back and got the same man, Marco, that took the order whose attitude was HORRIFIC. Insisting with a terrible attitude the order was correct and that we, the customers who order the same thing at least once a week, we’re wrong. Worst customer service ever over a wrong order.
No attempt at resolution was provided by Marco. He stated we’d have to come back in TOMORROW to speak to a manager.

Every time I order that forget or miss something. Today I’m working and ordered tacos asking for extra salsa and they sent me no salsa. Then I call them they’re like well come get it. If I could come get it I wouldn’t have ordered DoorDash. Seriously horrible customer service the food is ok but would be better if it ever came right. My fault for keeping going back never again.

I had the tacos de carnitas, pastor and tinga. Also had a side of nopales. The food was absolutely phenomenal! My partner ordered the tacos de birria which were also very tasty. This will be my go-to spot whenever I’m in the area! Also, the service was super kind, quick and friendly! I can’t wait to come back 🙂

There’s not much to the restaurant itself. Small, with about 10 or so tables. I’ve been here twice, and both times have had excellent meals! The food is always on point (I love the yellow rice), and the people who own and work here are very friendly! I would absolutely recommend trying Taqueria Atexquita if you happen to be in Penns Grove!

I’ve gone to this taco spot for years now , one of the best around. I travel at least twice a week 30 min drive to and from just to get these tacos . The house made hot sauces are my absolute favorite !!
Update review – new employees/ cashiers are adding automatic gratuity of 18% to your bill without your knowledge, didn’t notice until I checked my receipt. This is a shady business practice and you’ve lost me as a customer. I was a tipper on a regular but charging me extra without any notice and being lied to is no bueno !!
