I haven’t been eating out much but it was cold and I was hungry after the gym. With the contents of my fridge and pantry not sounding appetizing, I decided to venture out and try a taco place that replaced another taco place a while back.
The waitress was correct in how she described Taqueria Alameda as being the best kept secret in Westland for Mexican. If you haven’t tried this place and like Mexican, wake yourself up as you are likely sleeping!
I apologize for not taking a photo of the actual tacos but I ate them so fast I didn’t think to take one until they were already consumed. Trust me! They were fantastic, not lacking meat, and with a splash of the green sauce, were consumed in less than a minute each. My bill, less than $10, may best be described as reasonable, or possibly theft!
I saw a server bringing some fruity drink out after I was finished and I should have asked what it was. It looked good. I will likely be getting one next time.
Of note, they don’t serve alcohol so if you are looking for a margarita or corona, head somewhere else.
One complaint I have, the booths are old and need to either be replaced or have some padding and support added. They are old and not very comfortable(but then again that may also be good for flipping tables faster)

Everything about this place is exceptional! ¡Muy bueno! Especially the service I received. All 3 of the tacos I ordered were great. I will definitely return. Highly recommend.

The new owners are not newcomers to the restaurant business and run an excellent business! Service could not have been better on our visit tonight, with our waitress being so cheerful, friendly, and helpful that we’d come back again just to be waited on by her regardless of the food. The food was wonderful by the way. I highly recommend their al pastor which you can get the regular way or with extra grilled pineapple. I opted for one of each to compare, and they’re both fantastic, with the latter being my top pick because I love the flavor of grilled pineapple. My husband got chicken enchiladas with green sauce. The cheese on top is delicious and the sauce brought most of the flavor to the chicken, which was cooked well and moist but a little plain tasting. He said he’d ask for chicken tinga or beef next time. Their salsas are tasty, with the smokiness of the spicy chipotle salsa and excellent flavor and kick to the green jalapeno salsa being great choices for those who like spicy food, and their regular salsa a delicious choice for the less adventurous. Turning into the driveway is tricky if you’re heading west on Ford, so if traffic is heavy, to avoid a potential accident turning there you may want to go past and turn around. I hope you enjoy it here as much as we did. We look forward to our next visit!

Our family has been 3 times and can recommend this taqueria!! As of 2026 you will get a free serving of chips and salsa, and can get a refill for just a couple of bucks. The tacos are all pretty great, but especially the al pastor we liked the best. Churros are highly recommended too. Plenty on the menu to explore and the staff were friendly and helpful with some good recommendations.

Wow! This place is so good! The service is top notch and the food tastes great. I tried the steak gordita and chorizo street taco. Hands down the best gordita I’ve ever had. Must try for sure. Excellent prices as well.

Its the best taco place in the midwest, maybe all the US. The crispy taco is so unique, its “american” style but it is wholey unique like a mix between a taco and empanada. Their salsas are all so good. We used to visit regularly when they were at their orginal location and were so sad about the fire, but then we were excited and abrehensive about the new location. The new pricing had me wait a bit before coming back, but like everything, costs have gone up, that said, I haven’t been this satisfied with $12 lunch in a long time. This is the best place to eat in Westland hands down and the best tacos in the US!!

This is not your typical Tex-Mex spot. The food is truly authentic and made with fresh. They offer a great variety of meats and plates, and the service is phenomenal you’re greeted right when you walk in and made to feel welcome.
The restaurant can fill up pretty quickly, which says a lot about how good it is. You really can’t go wrong with their Mexican tacos, and I recommend the fried quesadillas, gorditas, huaraches. Don’t skip dessert either finish it off with a tres leches cake or churros.
Prices are very reasonable, especially compared to fast-food places. The quality, freshness, and authenticity here easily beat fast food and other nearby spots I’ve tried. If you’re craving real Mexican food, this place is a must-try!

My wife and I have been regulars since before the fire in their original (I think) Wayne Road location. We were so excited that they came back, now in the Ford Road building. The food is always so good, and the service is friendly.
I really enjoy their Mexican-style tacos with the hot brown sauce. I also had the barbacoa dish, and that was great, too. Pay them a visit – it’s a great, family-owned (and run) place that will treat you to good vibes and even better flavors!

We were very excited to spend a date night at this highly rated taqueria. The positives: staff were very friendly, good prices, lots of Spanish speaking patrons made us feel like we were in for a treat, first courtesy chips and salsa basket was yummy, and the rice and beans were excellent. The not so positives: the staff took forever to bring out our chips and waters (10 mins?), no alcohol/magueritas, the parking lot in winter was not very spacious, and our entrees were bizarrely bad. My chicken enchiladas combo with green sauce tasted like boiled gamey chicken which immediately nauseated me. My beautiful date had their Mexican chicken taco combo where the first taco was truly delicious but the second, again tasted bland and gamey. Our server was puzzled why we didn’t want to-go boxes but we didn’t want to cos a scene and paid quickly so we could leave. Given the other positive reviews, we are certain our experience was not representative. Not planning on returning but if we did, we’d get something that didn’t have chicken in it.

Food was excellent, Gorditas and Tacos was very tasty and filling. My wife had the Botana and she enjoyed it. Service was friendly and accommodating. Small place, but doing food right. We will definitely be back.
