The Coeur d’Alene Taphouse – Unchained is a uniquely situated cycling-themed bar, located near the famous Centennial Bike Trail in downtown Coeur d’Alene. With 24 microbrews and ciders on tap, a full service bar and a cycling-friendly menu, it’s open to all cyclists, hikers, beachgoers and outdoor enthusiasts. During the summer we open the front of the taphouse and offer sidewalk seating right on Sherman Avenue. There’s free parking in our bike rack and plenty of summer people-watching. We also feature a Margarita Bike that’s connected to a blender. Guests ordering our House Margaritas or blended drinks are invited to climb on the bike which powers the blender, which mixes the Margarita, that’s poured in the glass. You pedal, you drink!

Fun bike themed bar/restaurant. Lovely wait staff, half off pizzas on Monday. Simple menu but well executed.

My family has been coming here for years, albeit infrequently as we visit from out of town. We visited today and the experience was “fine” but a step down from what we expected based on years of prior visits. The menu was different, smaller, both food and drink wise and a couple of our go-to items are no longer available.

The beer coolers have always been a “check the dates” experience, but the variety and organization was impressive and I always enjoyed browsing and buying. Today, the beer cooler organization was not what I had grown to expect. Not well sorted by style, specifically.

I get it, markets evolve and the business has to adapt. I just grew to expect over the 8 years we’ve been visiting. I’m not saying I wouldn’t come back or that it was a bad experience, but it seemed like a step backwards.

I Hate to say negative things. Let me start by saying that the food was actually pretty good here and the drinks are pretty great as well. But the service was horrendous here. I watched two different tables arrive and leave and we were close to that point as well but we had started to receive our food slowly and all at separate times. We had ordered two appetizers and our kids plates way ahead of ourselves ordering our food by at least twenty minutes. Somehow the adult’s food came out first then an appetizer came out after our dinners and finally the kids food finally arrived after everyone had almost finished up with their meals. In the end they forgot about a kids meal and an appetizer and they offered to bring out food for the kid but he had filled up of our appetizer and fries. There’s a lot that could be said but at the end like I said the food was good but the service lacked all around.

My family and I visited CDA and had dinner here. The staff are super friendly and kind. We had our dog with us and were able to sit on the patio and they even brought her a water bowl! The pizza and fish and chips were amazing. Shout out to Lexi for wonderful service. We will be back!

Lexie was the best server, she recommended so many great things that were both on and off the menu! We were having a girls weekend with our mom who lives here and she made the weekend so special for us. She was so personable, so kind, and was always on it when we needed any thing! Thank you Lexie for making our girls weekend, we cannot wait to come back and ask for you specifically!

Cheers to the girls and Lexie at tap house unchained!

Just had lunch here and possibly the least impressive chopped salads we have ever had. 4 tiny chunks of hard chicken and 2 pepperoni slices chopped plus a small amount of lettuce for $16. Skip this place.

Quiet undiscovered gem on Sherman. Great food so far. Today I ordered the Buffalo chicken Mac & cheese. Very tasty. Could have used slightly less cheese sauce, and baked it with crumbles, in my opinion, but it wouldn’t stop me from ordering it again. A very generous portion, but a touch on the spendy side for a lunch. Overall, great place, great atmosphere, surprisingly quiet for lunch, and great food. The staff were very attentive and on top of things, even while training a new hire. Definitely would come back.

Amazing food, cold beer and Erin crushed the service. Always a staple in our lineup.

Food was decent, service was bad – especially with a mostly empty restaurant. Asked for waters multiples times, only 3 of 8 actually got water. Total time was 2 hrs plus. Will not return.
